Terri: Right Now

Bobby Schindler, Terri’s brother, said this:
“It’s very frustrating. Every minute that goes by is a minute that Terri is being starved and dehydrated to death,” He said seeing his sister was like looking at “pictures of prisoners in concentration camps.”
It’s been just about 7 days now since she has had anything to eat or drink. She is clinically dehydrated and her nose and mouth are probably bleeding. Major organ systems are shutting down. Acid buildup is starting to eat away at the stomach lining. They will probably try to give her some form of antacid, rectally, to keep the acid at bay. If she could, she would be laying in a fetal position. I read reports saying she is now looking “dehydrated”-it is way beyond that at this time. She is dry, and her eyes are sunk way down. Her mouth is open and may not shut anymore. She is breathing fast, then slow. Her respirations are deep and rattling. And her eyes may be open, but not seeing anything. The look of death, aides call it. We know it well. At this point I would really doubt she is having any pain; they either have her zoned out with morphine and/or she is in a death coma. That’s a blessing.
If they do come up with a way to rescue her, she may well die anyway. She would have to be connected to an IV for hydration, which would mean a slow drip to prevent fluid overload. It would take days to restore balance. All her electolytes are way out of whack. It’s almost to late to do anything.

For my part, it’s time to leave this all for awhile and go enjoy some quality time with my girls on this Good Friday. And pray.

I think people for the most part have accepted that Terri is going to die, and today most likely. She could go on for another WEEK though. It’s been an awful week for so many of us. This needs to end. Sadly, it will in the way we didn’t want it to.
