Illegals Want Higher Education Discounts

Leave it to MA to really put the screws to it’s people. I read this and thanked my lucky stars I am up north a bit.
Massachusetts lawmakers are debating whether the children of illegal immigrants should be entitled to higher education discounts available to other students.
NewsCenter 5’s Janet Wu reported that several students lobbied for the discounts, saying they could afford college only if they are eligible for in-state tuition rates.
“As an immigrant student who has worked for years to get good grades, support our community, get good SAT scores and apply to college — we pay taxes, our parents pay taxes,” said student Carlos.
The students, all children of illegal immigrants, want Beacon Hill lawmakers to approve an amendment in the state budget that would allow children of illegal immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition if they attend a Massachusetts high school for three years and apply for legal status while in college. They would not be eligible for state loans or scholarships. “Don’t see us as future drug dealers, criminals or prisoners. Give us the opportunity to be future leaders, lawyers, doctors and teachers,” said Walter Jovel, a student at Worcester State College.
Gov. Mitt Romney vetoed the same bill last year.
(Rolling my eyes on this one) What are they going to want next? Free food and housing and healthcare? And to pay ZERO taxes too?

It’s like a disease — more and more states are doing this. It was just publicly defeated here in NC, but that just means next time it comes up for a vote, the press won’t cover it so it will pass quickly and quietly.
