Marines Land In Somalia…

Seems the Marines are making news today. What’s this about:
US Marines are said to have arrived on the shores of Somalia in search of suspected terrorists.
The Marines are believed to have landed by boat in north-eastern Somalia were they showed photographs to local villagers.
A local government official says the soldiers were looking for people suspected of terrorist activity.
Reporters in the area say there has been an increased American presence this week.
Three US ships were seen in a nearby port on Tuesday.
Lawless Somalia has long been seen as a haven for Al Qaeda cells due to its lack of government and policing.
United States security officials recently warned of possible terrorist attacks on ships off the coast of Somalia and its neighbours.
And this good news:
WASHINGTON (AFP) – A US Marine who was videotaped shooting to death a wounded, unarmed Iraqi inside a mosque during an attack on Fallujah last year has been cleared of any wrongdoing after investigators determined that he acted in self-defense, the Marines said.
Major General Richard Natonski, commander of the 1st Marine Division, ruled that the unidentified Marine corporal would not face court-martial because he fired his weapon in self-defense.
“He has determined that the actions of the Marine in question were consistent with the established rules of engagement, the law of armed conflict and the Marine’s inherent right of self-defense,” the Marine Corps said in a statement.
