Kennedy’s take on Mitt Romney
Posted by Raven on June 20th, 2005
Not that anyone I know really cares, but Fat Teddy Kennedy has offered his assessment of Mitt Romney, probable presidential candidate in 2008. Kennedy and Romney have worked together before.
WASHINGTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, in a pointed jab at his old GOP foe, says Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney still needs to prove he has the right stuff to be a credible contender for the White House in 2008.
“The real kind of question and challenge is whether he has the vision and the ability to mobilize both his party and the country in terms of national leadership,” Kennedy said. “I think that’s the big question.”
Kennedy survived a bruising re-election contest 11 years ago against Romney, then a businessman-turned-politician running for the first time.
Romney went on to gain national attention after taking over the troubled Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City and winning the Corner Office on Beacon Hill. As governor, Romney has worked closely with Kennedy on issues vital to the Bay State.
But the Senate’s most prominent liberal said the Republican still has a lot to prove on the national stage to be a viable presidential candidate.
“It will now be the question as to whether the governor has the kind of ability to do it,” Kennedy said. “It’s a very high, fast track when you run for president. We just have to sort of wait and see.”
Not as fast tracked and high as being a career Senator Mr. Kennedy.
During the interview at his Senate office, Kennedy said he expected to support colleague Sen. John F. Kerry should he run again for president in 2008.
The senior senator also said Kerry’s 2004 experience as the Democratic nominee would prove to be a boon should he decide to run again for the White House. “He’d have a wealth of experience, knowledge from running the last campaign,” said Kennedy. “He’d be a very, very strong contender. I’d expect to support him.”
Oh how boring…Does this mean we will be hearing lots more from the other most liberal Senator-who happens to be from MA as well….John Kerry will be running again.
OR will Mr. Kennedy blow with the wind and drool over Hillary Clinton?
But he also lavished praise on the White House prospects of a potential Kerry rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), who enjoys strong popularity nationwide among Democrats. Kennedy and Clinton enjoy a close frienship in the Senate.

how sweet would it be that Romney return to the campaign trail and removes either kennedy or kerry?
the sooner these idiots are challenged, the sooner they will loose.

That would be the ultimate slap in Kerry’s face…if he and Romney ran for POTUS and Romney won. Kerry would wither away into nothing.
