He’s not about to let it crush either of them

Posted by Kim on October 18th, 2005

Some people just cannot shut up. They have to constantly remind us they are around. They have a desire to remain in the spotlight even though the light doesn’t shine on them. Joseph Wilson is a perfect example of this.

WORCESTER – Joseph Wilson is at the center of the storm raging over his wife being outed as a CIA undercover agent.

Yesterday, Wilson said he’s not about to let it crush either of them.

“There’s an old African saying, `When the elephants fight, it’s the grass that gets trampled,’ ” he said. “I’ve tried to guard against either my wife or I being a blade of grass.”

Now he’s trying to paint himself into another image: He’s a HERO. Trying to protect his wife? I doubt it. Neither one of them has any credibility left, as they chose to spread lies and half truths.

Wilson’s criticism of the Bush administration’s rhetoric in the runup to the war in Iraq likely prompted the leak of the identity of his wife, Valerie Plame. A grand jury is now wrapping up its investigation of the leak, amid speculation that indictments could be brought against top White House aides.

Speaking to reporters at Clark University, his first stop on a 10-day speaking tour, Wilson recounted his 2002 trip to Niger, taken at the behest of the CIA, to investigate reports Saddam Hussein was trying to purchase 500 tons of uranium for a nuclear program. A former ambassador with experience in Niger, Wilson reported back it would be impossible for Iraq to make a purchase without it being obvious.

The big picture, Wilson said, was “the administration misinformed the American people about the threat of Saddam Hussein.”

Now who’s misleading the American people? He never went to Niger at the request of anyone other than this wife.
He never had his facts right. He made assumptions and ran with them. In this day and age, assumptions could cost the lives of many innocent people.

Building support for the war was the task of the White House Iraq Group, which included Chief of Staff Andrew Card, top political adviser Karl Rove, Vice President Dick Cheney’s Chief of Staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Condoleezza Rice and a few others. That group, Wilson said, likely signed off on the decision to leak his wife’s name to reporters.

“This was not political hardball,” Wilson said. “It was a defamation campaign against myself and my wife.”

Now who’s dropping names? Wilson is such a typical liberal. One who makes a lot of noise, but offers no tanglible evidence or other ideas. I would also add that he is probably abit paranoid. Maybe he has some guilt to share in this leak probe and he’s JUST a bit worried about it. Another example of the (un)reality based community in action.

You’d be a lot sexier if you read a newspaper sometime. All of your remarks about Wilson have been debunked.

Btw honey, one thing you’ll learn when you pick up a paper is that there were, in fact, no WMDs in Iraq. You might also discover that Iraq had not purchased yellowcake from Niger.

Joe Wilson was right. Bush was wrong. Don’t shoot the messenger. That IS NOT how your country will get out of the mess it is in today.

    draGon, go dragoff somewhere.
You’re wrong…all you idiot liberals make this whole thing into something it isn’t. No, Wilson played games. His wife was never anything COVERT; her name was mentioned in passing as the person who recommended he go to Niger (because he was bored and was feeling unappreciated)…he didn’t even really check things out personally-he took the word of leaders and others.
This whole “incident” doesn’t even qualify as one. People like you and the editors of the NYT keep the drumroll going…I think you all need to get a life and move on.
