The ACLU also submitted a 37-page…

Posted by Raven on October 20th, 2005

Searching for news related to the ACLU, for today’s post, led me to this article. Not only is the ACLU anti-American, it is most likely going to help the UN form human rights abuse charges against the US as well. The US should totally ignore this blatant attempt to undermine what we stand for.

SAN FRANCISCO, October 18 (OneWorld) – In an unprecedented move, a UN committee has asked human and civil rights groups to submit reports and testify on U.S. breaches of international law, filling a gap left by the U.S. government’s failure to submit its own report.

The 18-member United Nations Human Rights Committee, which reviews nations’ compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, began reviewing country reports Monday and will complete its session on October 24.

But for the third time since ratifying the treaty in 1992, the United States has failed to submit its five-year report to the committee on U.S. violations of the treaty.

The treaty, which entered into force in 1976 and has been signed by 155 countries, outlaws torture or degrading treatment, protects self-determination, and ensures that all people everywhere are treated within the law.

Without a U.S. report, the committee usually skips over discussions of U.S. compliance.

But anticipating an absent U.S. report, the Human Rights Committee took precautions this year.

Last August, the committee sent a letter to a number of U.S.-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the World Organization for Human Rights USA, requesting reports on U.S. transgressions of the treaty, to be used in case the U.S. itself failed to report.

Why the US should EVER have to participate in such a ridiculous and stupid reporting fest like this is beyond me.
We are not perfect but we are FAR better than any other nation on this earth. I don’t think the US should have anything to do with this bullshit. Why the ACLU was asked to take part of this is easy to figure out. The ACLU is about as UNAmerican as Russian Pie.

Specifically, the committee’s letter requested documentation relating to, “the fight against terrorism following the events of 11 September 2001 and notably the implications of the Patriot Act on nationals as well as non-nationals; and problems relating to the legal status and treatment of persons detained in Afghanistan, Guantanamo, Iraq, and other places of detention outside the USA.”

The move represents a new level of intensity by the United Nations to hold the United States accountable for what is widely seen by rights groups as an increasing disregard of human rights by the U.S. government at the highest level, and at the same time an elevation of the status of NGOs within the UN system.

Yeah, yeah. What is WIDELY seen by liberal, anti American, jealous and pathetic losers of this world…those who wish to see America decline and cease to exist. The fact that the ACLU has been asked to review the so called Human Rights violations worries me and it should worry you. They have a different defination of VIOLATION. Remember- the act of saying a simple prayer before a town meeting, or the act of fisking fans before a large football game- are violations of your human rights. Never mind the September 11th attacks-they don’t meet the critera for Human rights violations. Nor does the death and destruction in Dafur and Romania and all those other nations that innocent people pleaded for help-pleas to the UN that went unheard.

The rest of this article describes the real reasons behind the UN’s request to such groups as the ACLU. It points to a great deal of discontent at America in general- the situation at Gitmo; the new ambassador John Bolton’s bold and ballsy moves for UN reform; the anit-UN sentiment among many Americans…

The ACLU has it’s dirty rotten hand in this though, aside from simply *just being asked*:

The ACLU also submitted a 37-page report to the committee describing specific U.S. breaches of the political and civil rights covenant.

The report included sections on “Excessive Government Secrecy”; “Racial Profiling of the U.S. Arab, South Asian, and Muslim Communities”; “Criminalization of Political Protest”; “Increased Surveillance Powers”; and “Random Searches.”

They have already submitted a report. They are stirring the pot full of their own shit. It stinks and any American who supports the ACLU should realize that they are supporting something so anti American it is scary.

It’s things like this that drive me even further to the right, and believe me, that’s no mean feat.

When we deal with the UN, we are dealing mainly with the Weasel States and the ringleader, Mr. Kawfee. They are not our friends, and certainly not our allies.

We are the United States of America, we don’t need to appease those corrupt, self-important socialist losers.

Dubya’s 100% right to let them know that he doesn’t share their priorities.

As far as the ACLU is concerned, what can one expect from a communist organization whose goal is to destroy our country from within?

Wait, I don’t get it…are you suggesting that America isn’t about protecting its citizens’ civil liberties? I don’t know…that just doesn’t sound right to me.
