Merry Christmas
Posted by Raven on December 20th, 2005
It’s that time of year where things get very busy for a lot of people. Christmas is just around the corner and then it’s New Years, already. I’ll be working both days (and New Years eve, *drats*).
I want to wish everyone a safe and MERRY Christmas- no matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on. (If you don’t like the term Christmas…get over it and be gracious LOL). And I hope everyone has a great new year, 2006, and all the wishes and dreams come true for all. I’ll be back sometime around the 2nd.
For my Democrat Friends: (heh)
“Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.”

Thanks! Merry X to you!
Trust me, if you were every in a tiny minority you’d actually feel good about some sort of inclusive wishing as that!

Now, let me put my 2 cents in.
On behalf of my wife Maria, la Famiglia Goomba, the boys down at the cheese store and the entire Goomba organization, Merry Christmas to you.
Another blogging year has passed and this electronic communications thing still continues to amaze me. Let’s make 2006 another powerful year for bloggers with opinions to share. And in this season, as we celebrate the nativity of Jesus Christ, let us also celebrate each other.

Some Seasonal Inspiration
Raven has posted a wonderfully written, multi holiday greeting, complete with disclaimers where appropriate, that should take care of everyone of every possible denomination or lack thereof, everywhere on earth. http://andrightlyso.com/2005/12/20/merry...

Great post, Raven! And a Merry Christmas to you. However, I’m sure that someone could find offense with your holiday wishes. One possibility is that it does not consider those with reading impairments. Maybe you should record it for them. Include in my wishes that those on the left would grow brains–and use them.

If no one is offended by “Merry Christmas” Why the move to Happy Holidays? And, If I need to say it, watching Fox News is always better than watching Faux News

If no one is offended by “Merry Christmas” Why the move to Happy Holidays?
Because while no one (but a few anal retentive atheists and possibly a tiny number of similarly disabled other non-Christians) is offended, not everyone responds positively towards “Merry Christmas”- they may just be “meh” about it.
Because stores and companies feel that they want to positively appeal to the largest consumer base possible, they want to have a phrase which can be taken as a nod to whatever holiday is being celebrated this time of year.
The tiny number of anal Christians are offset by the non-Christian shoppers who react positively to the message.
If you find “Happy Holidays” offensive, you really just need to lighten up a bit (ditto to those who find “Merry Christmas” offensive).

It’s patently stupid to think of happy holidays as anything other than rooted in religious belief anyway.
Holiday
Holi-day
Holy Day
That’s were it comes from, that’s it’s origin. Can we end this retarded, nonexistant save for a few anal-rententives, war on christmas now?
Please?

I think he can all agree that Christmas has won the war on Christmas.
December 24th, 2005 at 12:54 am
Christmas has not only won, but it has annexed all other holidays and is marching on poland.
