ACLU & The State of The Union

The ACLU is attacking President Bush’s State of The Union address- because he didn’t “address” the state of civil liberties in America. (rolling my eyes once again.)
The press release:

ACLU Says President Ignored State of Civil Liberties in Address; Bush Failed to Answer Questions on Patriot Act, NSA Spying

WASHINGTON – The American Civil Liberties Union today strongly rebuked President Bush for failing to adequately address serious civil liberties concerns about his administration’s actions since 9/11 in his State of the Union address delivered Tuesday. Specifically, the president failed to answer questions raised – from all points of the political spectrum – on his warrantless domestic spying program conducted by the National Security Agency and the over intrusive powers in the Patriot Act.

What is wrong with these people? Always ready to attack and spread half truths- the ACLU must realize that it is the job of the President to protect the American people, to defend the Constitution of the United States…against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Since we all know (or at least those of us who live in the real world) the Sept. 11th terrorists roamed about this country freely, planning the attacks using our own freedoms, it makes sense to start up domestic spying programs. Through this program we have caught terror cells in their early stages….and who lost their liberties? Not too many, except the Islamafreakoids. Oh yeah, I forgot…these are the very people the ACLU likes to defend.

MORE BULLSHIT:

The following can be attributed to ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero:

“President Bush’s State of the Union address glossed over the serious problems with the Patriot Act and the warrantless NSA spying program. These are concerns shared by Democrats and Republicans alike. Parts of the Patriot Act and the entire illegal NSA spying program bypass judicial approval of government surveillance of American citizens. Despite his statements, the president has not been granted the power to authorize unconstitutional spying by the NSA in secret. Neither Congress nor the Constitution gave him that authority. Intercepting the domestic communications of Americans without judicial approval of any sort is illegal and unconstitutional, regardless of the number times the president says otherwise.”

This is opinion, not fact. It would be nice if groups like the ACLU would stop confusing us with the two. Using facts as a basis for such attacks like this isn’t a crime but it sure borders on it when it comes to the security of this country.

The rabid, anti America HATE groups are whining that the government spied on them while they were planning their stupid protests at colleges. Maybe they deserved to be watched…after all making threats is a crime. Who is coming to their defense? Take a guess.

SAN FRANCISCO - On the day after President George W. Bush in his State of the Union speech defended a domestic spying program to monitor international terrorist communications, the American Civil Liberties Union is asking why students from the UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz may have also been spied on.

The ACLU of Northern California, along with the national group and affiliates in Georgia, Rhode Island, Maine and Pennsylvania announced this morning that they are requesting Defense Department documents that may shed light on surveillance at anti-military recruiting demonstrations in April 2004 in Berkeley and Santa Cruz.

It’s nothing new. The government has always kept a watchful eye on these hate filled groups and they know it. To squawk about it now is pretty damn convenient I say…the ACLU is good at sounding the grand drum roll when it needs attetion. That’s all this is.

The two organizations, Berkeley’s Stop the War Coalition and Santa Cruz’s Students Against the War, and groups including the American Friends Service Committee, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and Greenpeace, all believe they have been subject to government surveillance.

These groups SHOULD be under government surveillance, all the time. If they’re not doing anything wrong than why would they get so uptight?
