White Trash Wednesday: Stolen Credit Cards

Posted by Raven on February 8th, 2006

Here’s a classy lady…Her kids must be SO proud of their Mom. I can’t even begin to imagine how everyone involved with this must be feeling.

A Roxbury woman who is already awaiting hearings in four criminal cases is now accused of using a stolen credit card to buy nearly $2,000 worth of trophies for an upcoming youth basketball tournament, prosecutors said.

Theresa Lee, 53, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1985 when she was convicted on 17 counts of embezzlement and 15 counts of larceny in Middlesex County was in cuffs again yesterday in Dorchester District Court.

David Procopio, spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney’s office, said the credit card’s rightful owner called a trophy store Saturday after noticing a $475 purchase there. The store’s owner called police when Lee came in the same day to buy more trophies, racking up a $1,500 bill.

The tournament was scheduled for Feb. 22 and 24 at the Tobin Community Center in Roxbury. A woman there last night said the center’s only involvement in the tournament was allowing the organizers to use their basketball court. She said the tournament was abruptly canceled about two days ago.

Lee was arraigned yesterday in Dorchester District Court on charges of larceny over $250. She has four open cases that date back to October 2004 for charges that include larceny and extortion.

SO the kids loose out on something that probably gave them a sense of pride and accomplishment. Parents like this should be locked away. It’s tough enough being a kid these days but to add the burden of a criminal-minded Mother to their load…TRASHY.
