Murtha vs. The Marine-who do you believe

Posted by Raven on June 11th, 2006

The Marines are starting to speak out about what really happened in Haditha. As I stated before, I will stand with them before standing with the likes of this ass.

Let’s compare some of Murtha’s accusations to the words of a Marine:

Murtha-who based his rant on a report he admits he never even read:
“There was no firefight. There was no IED (improvised explosive device) that killed those innocent people…”

Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich- who was there:

Shortly after the turn, a bomb buried in the road ripped through the last Humvee. The blast instantly killed the driver, Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, 20. Crossan, who was in the front passenger seat, remembered hearing someone yell, “Get some morphine.” Then he passed out.

Murtha:
“Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them. And they killed innocent civilians in cold blood. That is what the report is going to tell.”

Staff Sgt. Wuterich:
Puckett said that while Wuterich was evaluating the scene, Marines noticed a white, unmarked car full of “military-aged men” lingering near the bomb site. When Marines ordered the men to stop, they ran; Puckett said it was standard procedure at the time for the Marines to shoot suspicious people fleeing a bombing, and the Marines opened fire, killing four or five men.

“The first thing he thought was it could be a vehicle-borne bomb or these guys could be ready to do a drive-by shooting,” Puckett said, explaining that the Marines were on alert for such coordinated, multi-stage attacks.

Murtha, with the zealot Chris Matthews:
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Let me ask you Mr. Murtha to give us some details about that. Draw us a picture of what happened at Haditha.

REP. JOHN “JACK” MURTHA: Well, I’ll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we’re going to take care – we don’t know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and they actually killed civilians. And, and –…

Staff Sgt. Wuterich:

Wuterich told Puckett that no one was emotionally rattled by Terrazas’s death because everyone had a job to do, and everyone was concerned about further casualties. As Wuterich began briefing the platoon leader, Puckett said, AK-47 shots rang out from residences on the south side of the road, and the Marines ducked.

A corporal with the unit leaned over to Wuterich and said he saw the shots coming from a specific house, and after a discussion with the platoon leader, they decided to clear the house, according to Wuterich’s account.

A four-man team of Marines, including Wuterich, kicked in the door and found a series of empty rooms, noticing quickly that there was one room with a closed door and people rustling behind it, Puckett said. They then kicked in that door, tossed a fragmentation grenade into the room, and one Marine fired a series of “clearing rounds” through the dust and smoke, killing several people…

War is nasty and rules of engagement are there to protect those who are fighting. Sometimes, the warriors make mistakes. This doesn’t mean they acted in cold blood, killed indiscrimently and with malice. Rep. Murtha jumped the gun big time on this. Then again, the doves of this world consider ANY killing to be in cold blood. That’s why we have wars in the first place- the doves and peace niks and olive branch holders allow nations like Iraq to become a threat in the first place.

  1. Ben USN (Ret) Says:

The Staff Sgt. is credible, and I have no reason to doubt his word.
Murtha is a proven liar, and I will never believe the word of a coward and traitor!
Murtha is the lowest of scum!

  2. Raven Says:

I will believe the word of a real Marine over the word of the coward Murtha. He is not a Marine anymore.
He who uses his politics to aid our enemies, to give them reason to harm our troops, should be tried for treason. Murtha is a pompous ass who sold his brotherhood to his politics. Hope he rots in hell.

  3. Jane Says:

I find it particularly dispicable that Murtha and Kerry are exploiting their military service to gain an “expert” status that enables them to attack and denigrate our outstanding military members. Its both a betrayal of the nation and a betrayal of the military.

  4. Raven Says:

It’s treasonous! The bastards, Kerry and Murtha.

  5. John M. Burt Says:

I’m a very bad Quaker for saying this, but the world would become a slightly better place if John Murtha were to bloody the nose of the next little twirp who calls him a “coward”.
