Help me out here.

Projected and estimated income is NOT money in the bank. So when potential income is based on stuff folks don’t HAVE to buy, and has been declared bestowed privelege anyway, then it’s not yet money in the bank is it?

Mayor Frank Guinta wielded his veto early yesterday to block a $3 hike in the cost of registering a vehicle in Manchester.

Manchvegas Aldermen are dismayed that Mayer Guinta considered a $3.00 hike in auto registration in the CITY, and said “UM..NO” The knee jerk reaction seems to be “Well something else must be taxed to generate the money needed to fulfil the budget projections.

Without the fee, the money will have to be made up in new property taxes or revenue. Aldermen included $390,000 from it in their budget.

Where’s the part where someone says “Gee, there’s no longer any money for that. Let’s look at where it can be shaved from the wish list. Better yet, let’s look at line items that are superflous, redundant, or just plain matters of overpriced municipal bureaucratic “administration” appointments.

Anyone else think they could shave $400,000 from the City of Manchester payroll without touching essential services? For example, how much does it cost to “administer” the City vehicle registration fee department, in salaries, paperclips, and lightbulbs?

(Ward 3 Alderman Pat) Long, a Democrat, said he was concerned aldermen had overestimated the among of revenue the fee would produce.

Long said he supported the overall budget, but not everything in it.

“Voting on the budget wasn’t item by item,” Long said.

Ooo, someones thinking!

Aldermen don’t get you free stuff, you pay for it. Now that the attitude seems to be “A little unnoticeable tax/ user fee on vehicle registration, let’s have a look at the current crop of Aldermans history on public transportation promotion in their wards.

Once this attitude is corrected on the Queen City level, maybe the State can jump on board.

That all sounds very liberal, doesn’t it?

Initiate Utopian fiscal projections whose actual financing falls far short of projected spending, then when reality arrives on the scene, just increase a fee someplace or raise taxes to offset the screw-up, or use the RINO Bloomberg approach — have the enforcement departments of all applicable city agencies start issuing summonses for violations of ancient blue laws and other decades old, rusty statutes that haven’t been heard of, let alone enforced in half a century or more.
