Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but him who does it for love of it.
Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862)
1636 – Harvard College was founded in Massachusetts. The original name was Court of Massachusetts Bay Colony. It was the first school of higher education in America.
1776 – The Battle of White Plains took place during the American Revolutionary War.
1793 – Eli Whitney applied for a patent for his cotton gin.
1886 – The Statue of Liberty was dedicated in New York Harbor by U.S. President Cleveland. The statue weighs 225 tons and is 152 feet tall. It was originally known as “Liberty Enlightening the World.”
It was not unexpected. She was weakening daily for a long time.
It was not what my sister feared. For that we thank God most sincerely. She lived with mom, and feared coming home one day to find her on the floor.
If you were to write the script of how you wanted to go, it might read like this: “In peace, after a long and full life, at home, surrounded by family and having just been blessed by the pastor.” Thus it was for my mother.
That’s right- after Congressman Bradley went to the mat for these people they show their gratitude by working to help defeat him in the upcoming election. Despite marching in their parades, wearing their silly yellow shirts with “SOS” (Save Our Shipyard- or was it Stuck On Stupid?), and using all the clout he could muster with the Bush administration to save their well-paying union jobs, this is the thanks he gets.
Seriously folks, I have been struggling for a long time with the idea of hate. I may loathe, despise, but do I really want to hate? Is that a healthy quality to possess? Does it distract us from our lives so much that we lose sight of what is really important? I’m talking about grown-ups behaving badly (soon to be a new series on this blog).
Well, let’s see, that means pretty much every female in the western world, I guess — including you, me, your sister, your mom, etc. We’re all pieces of meat waiting to get eaten by a gang of cats.
Nice religion, assholes.

Yeah but at 2am tomorrow– Sunday- we are supposed to change our clocks back. SO, since few people are awake at that hour, we change the clocks when we go to bed.

I hate DST — I always forget to change something back….
The article on the food nazi thing makes me want to blurt: “I’m getting out of here!” and bolt, accepting an ongoing, offshore, full time job offer.
These same liberals who are always yelling, “Keep your laws off my body!” need to be told, “Keep your laws out of my stomach!”
