“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
Jean Francois Kerrie, Winter Soldier
1512 – Michelangelo’s paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were first exhibited to the public.
1604 – “Othello,” the tragedy by William Shakespeare, was first presented at Whitehall Palace in London.
1611 – “The Tempest,” Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, was first presented at Whitehall Palace in London.
1755 – At least 60,000 people were killed in Lisbon, Portugal by an earthquake, its aftershocks and the ensuing tsunami.
1765 – The British Parliament enacted The Stamp Act in the American colonies. The act was repealed in March of 1766 on the same day that the Parliament passed the Declaratory Acts which asserted that the British government had free and total legislative power of the colonies.
Man up, Senator. Act like you got a pair. Own what you said. Apologize and explain that it was an accident. Hell, blame it on not getting enough sleep — that’s how Bill Clinton tried to weasel out of a tax cut pledge. If you’d done that immediately, it would have been worth a day or three of laughs at your expense. And then it would be OVER.
But by stonewalling and blustering and lashing out, you’ve changed a discussion to your foibles into your serious character flaws, and caused great harm to your party’s chances next week — as well as your own future aspirations for higher office.
Once again, we see just what we were so fortunate to avoid almost two years ago. And once again, I am relieved that I didn’t vote for John Kerry for president.
Own your words, Senator. Or they will surely own you.
As for John Kerry and his argument that Republicans are afraid to debate real men, I recall there being several presidential debates, and I seem to remember you losing the election.
However, you’re right, you’re the perfect example of a straw man, and your latest remarks prove you need to see the wizard for a brain.
This study may explain why my STD checks keep coming up negative despite a common belief that I’m a comprehensive lecture in infectious diseases due to my status as a hooker.
Sorry the blog’s been so Me-centric today, but it was so fun to get to talk about John Kerry. I mean, who’d have thought I’d have a chance to do that? I thought I was two years too late on the scene, but no, JFK pulled one out for me. Really, I think one of the most positive things about this for Republicans is not only that it reminds people how Dems are deficient, but it also reminds Republicans of what 2004 was like.
Mary Katherine was on FOX news yesterday!!! YAY!!!
