A Good Hypocrite

Posted by Raven on November 18th, 2006

Ouch.

Everyone loves a good hypocrite; they make us feel superior just for being consistent, if not competent. Accordingly the Internets are getting a good snort out of Wal-Mart basher John Edwards getting caught looking for Wal-Mart to hook him up with a Playstation 3.
[...]
Contrary to the Edwards’ pitch that labor-hostile companies are leaving American workers destitute, somebody is making some money out there in America. More importantly, they are making it in many, many cases without a union card. This reality will very hard for union-funded Democrats like Edwards to ignore as the 2008 presidential campaign unfolds. Hewing to the union rules, clear evidence of prosperity, like perhaps a shortage of $600 game machines, will have to be swept out of the campaign.

Lemoncrats (TM) are hypocrites- especially the polititians. I want to hear if the Union people actually believe his excuse. I don’t.

I got a call from Rassmens(sp) polls the other nite. They had him on a list of 10 canadiates for 08. Actually the list was nearly a re-run from 04.
    Have a God Blessed Weekend

lemon leaves a verrry bad taste in my mouth. so do liberals and democrats. So…put them together…we have LEMONCRATS.

    lol

Edwards is a liberal, so of course he’s a hypocrite.

I like the way he tried laying the blame for going to W-M for a Play Station on some gofer or other, and had the guy say he didn’t know any better.

He couldn’t use the “botched joke” excuse, because his former partner in crime had already used it for something else.

    From the Associated Press:
“My wife, Elizabeth, wanted to get a Playstation3 for my young children. She mentioned it in front of one of my staff people,” Edwards said. “That staff person mentioned it in front of a volunteer who said he would make an effort to get one. He was making an effort to go get one for himself.

Not only does this sound perfectly plausible, it’s also consistent with what little facts/evidence we have. It *was* a young staffer who made the call, we know that much. Walmart says so.
Furthermore, it is *Walmart* that asserts Edwards was trying to “cut to the front”. They do so without even having spoken to him. This can obviously be explained as an attempted character assassination of a political adversary, especially considering the fact that this kind of an unusual MO for Walmart. All that Walmart confirmed was that the guy “was working for Edwards”, according to the AP. They did not ask wether he was in a position to speak for him, or if he even knew about the conversation.

The origional article can be found here:

You can wonder about the quality of his organisation, when his staffers don’t know his stance on Walmart, but you would have to be a really unrational raving partisan conservative, and a pretty crappy human being, to truly believe that Edwards thought to himself: “Screw my principles, get me a PS3 from Walmart”. There isn’t a shred of evidence to suggest that’s what happened.

And for you guys to go so cravenly after a man who, for all his faults, is just trying to stand up for a bunch of people who work their butts off for a wage they can’t even properly feed their children with, is just very sad, and it makes you, well… hypocrites.

    J..

PS: And don’t give me this crap about how people can apparently afford $600 consoles, cos:
    1. People can’t afford them, they’re just more willing to get into debt.
    2. Sony screwed up, so there’s way too few units. Hence the “sold out” sign.
    3. It’s not walmart employees who buy them.
