Good call Roberta. Always listen to the doctors in these situations BUT make sure YOU are educated as well…docs often go with the flow on this stuff and don’t research all the facts. They assume the info they get is researched and bias free. It’s isn’t always the case.

Thanks for this info. Tonight, I was just with my 16 yr old daughter,getting her yearly physical. Considered the vaccine, only i felt in my heart it was too new, in addition to some of the other variables you mentioned. Thanks again for your genuine “human interest”! It’s interesting to note that a competing product will be forthcoming.
I have to wonder how the “new” vaccination” made by the competing big pharma will market? Hopefully they have learned. Be truthful.

This is nothing more than a vaccine to prevent the spread of gentital HPV- a STD. On it’s own it might have some merit. But to try to con people into thinking this is a cure-all for cervical cancer is just wrong.
I no longer trust Merck. No one should.

Or even worse, suppose the vaccine actually causes cancers. We don’t know without long-term studies…You’d think we’d have learned from thalidomide and DES to no instituted widespread use without long-term studies. And with HPV, the danger of not vaccinating is zero to modest, and we already know the vaccine has significant side effects. Whatever happened to primo non nocere?

I wonder if Merck stopped lobbying because their legal people worried that if Merck continued to actively lobby for legislative, Merck might be opening themselves up to liability actions because their actions might deprive them of the shield of FDA product approval.

In any case, the railroading of mandatory immunizations through state legislatures does seem to have been stopped. Hopefully, as more knowledge surfaces, the movement will be permanently derailed. (I hope they find some way to override Gov. Richards in Texas.)

What cost will a condom provide? A couple bucks? And what’s the worst side effect?? A reaction to latex.
