Turning Boiling Water Into Snow

Posted by Raven on March 6th, 2007

Way cool. OK…way WaY wAy COLD.

MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H. — While frigid weather was felt across New Hampshire on Tuesday, weather observers on the peak of Mount Washington said it was so cold that boiling water thrown in the air instantly turned into snow.

Temperatures reached 37 degrees below zero Tuesday morning, shattering the old record for March 6 of 23 degrees below zero set in 1950. The temperature narrowly missed breaking the all-time March record of 38 degrees below zero, also set in 1950.

Wind chills between 80 and 100 degrees below zero were recorded, with a peak wind gust of 117 mph.

To think…I could be one of those who did this!! I wish I were THERE.

UPDATE: WHY the weather so WILD on Mt. Washington

That’s right, you were once planning to go there to work — I don’t know, all that Global Warming they’re experiencing up there could give you frostbite!

LOL…yeah I wish I had gone now dammit! It looks like fun. And they have SNOW and it’s cold enough to make snow out of water. Sheesh.

I think Albore should go live up there for 4 months. Teach him a thing or two about his global warming. Heh.
