Republican presidential contender Tom Tancredo will soon quit the 2008 race if his support in a key test doesn’t measure up to other candidates, a campaign aide said.
The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Tancredo would concentrate on being re-elected to Congress if he doesn’t finish in the top four at the Iowa Republican Party’s Ames Straw Poll on August 11.
..and I have to find a candidate worthy of my support. As of yet, there isn’t ONE who meets my standards, which are simple. AMERICA FIRST.
WE THE PEOPLE
The three most important words in the English language other than expressions of love or faith. And yet, even those three words make possible in this country free and unfettered expression of religion and faith.Yet, it would seem that not enough people in this country, and certainly not enough people in the United States Senate or United States House of Representatives understand that these three words are central to our form of governance.
We the people have been shafted by our elected officials. We the people need to take a stand come next election day. And we need to do what’s right for America, not what’s right for the GOP or the Lemoncrats. Political parties mean little when we lose our voice in the very form of government that is based upon WE THE PEOPLE, first.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Eleven years after Congress changed welfare to focus on work, some states are sidestepping the rules by starting their own welfare programs.
They’re shifting around existing accounts so their most vulnerable residents don’t have to meet work requirements. In the process they’re making it easier for themselves to meet the federal government’s threshold for welfare and work, and avoiding fines.
The funding shuffle has been lauded by some as protecting those who need more help before they can hold down jobs — help such as treatment, counseling or English classes.
But others say the state help contradicts the prime goal of welfare reform: moving people quickly to the workforce.
Oh and blogging has been LIGHT because I am SO busy hanging out at places like this:::

What about Repuplican candidate Ron Paul? Hes the only candidate thats worth a damn from what I can see. He did some wonderful interviews on NPR. I was very impressed! His views and logic on key issues is undisputable and hes way more in touch with the American people than other candidates – being a man from the middle class himself.

Ron Paul? 8O 8O 8O 8O
That is the natural progress when I hear that name.
My dream ticket, Guiliani and Thompson, in either order. I think Thompson is the conservative man for the job, and Guiliani can beat Hillary, hands down. WE’ll see. I am really waiting for Thompson to enter the race so I can see his platform and where he stands, so I can throw my full support for him.

Really!? What do you find so distasteful about Ron Paul? Just curious…. And do you really think that Guiliani is going to put America first? I don’t see him as being truely in touch with America. And I’m sorry, but I see him as a continuation of the current administration… if not worse! And I shudder to think what another four years of that will bring! Look at his duplicity and misuse/manipulation of the media in that Milken situation. Look at how he wouldn’t let FEMA and the Army Corps do their job of the clean up operation after 9-11? A job that was suppose to take 30 months… and then 9 months later its all clear? Thats not a speedy job well done – thats elimination of the biggest most important crime scene in American history! Which is a crime itself! By someone who should have known better about preserving evidence! a former US attorny for crying out loud!? Look at how he Philandered through 3 marriages, or his family’s mobster past. Look at his shady post-mayoral business dealings which earned him over 100Mil… the washington post had a good article about it…
Hes the type of guy who says all the right things, but his actions raise ENORMOUS red flags for me!
I’ll give you Thompson though! :o) I definitely prefer him to any of the “leading” candidates.

I still like Duncan Hunter, although I don’t think he’s going to be able to stay in the race much longer since he developed any momentum yet. His positions are quite close to Tancredo’s, but he isn’t nearly as polarizing in his style. He’d make a bang-up vice president, though.
I am waiting to see Fred Thompson as a candidate for a while before taking a position on him. Being a spectator is very different. He is quite eloquent in his writings and in prepared speeches, but has not been as effective apparently in more impromptu settings. He has been taking better positions on immigration and hopefully will see error of his ways on McCain-Feingold. However, much of the yearning I hear for him comes from dissatisfaction with other candidates, so until he’s in the crossfire too from other candidates and from the media (who have already started hit-stories on him), I won’t know if he has the staying power to stand up to Hillary’s machine.
Ron Paul is an isolationist and too doctrinaire of a libertarian who will not be able to rally legislators around his causes, as evidenced by his legislative career. He’s also associated with some unsavory political characters. Not to mention he hasn’t gotten out of the single digits.
Fortunately, the first primaries are at least six months away. There’s plenty of time left to figure out who to support. As the old song goes: wise men say, only fools rush in…

Ron Paul won’t win. We need a winner. I’m not at all sold on Fred yet…and I’m pretty sure I can’t stand behind Rudy right now anyway.
SO far there are no candidates that excite me or inspire me or give me any sense of security. That’s sad.

Ron Paul : Has support of the “Truther” movement.
That bothers me. Big time. The entire”blowback” thing from the debates, that somehow we brought 9/11 onto ourselves. That bothers me. He might be a good representative, but he is definitely not presidential material.
Guiliani, true, he’s no Fred Thompson. I have read his book on leadership, and it is quite good from what I remember. As far the Milken incident and 9/11 i’ll have to do some more research and get both sides on it. How much of it is hit piece, how much is fact.

Any Tancredo supporters who are thinking about switching to Fred Thompson should read this first:

It shows how Fred is a RINO just like the rest of them.
