FredHeads: Convince Me Why I Should Support Him
Posted by Raven on July 1st, 2007
OK all you Fred Thompson fans…listen up.
Read this stuff. Considering that most who visit here KNOW HOW I FEEL about Illegal Immigration, please tell me why Fred is even remotely worthy of my support. Please explain to me how his actual voting record reflects his support for American workers and American national security.
Fred Thompson: Liberal in Disguise
Immigration-Reduction Report Card
Numbers USA Profile on Fred Thompson
IS there some truth to this:
I am afraid that Thompson may be the most likely candidate, given the snowballing of support for him. I think there is a lot of peer pressure at work in movements like this. It isn’t just teens who are susceptible to peer pressure. Adults can get caught up in the bandwagon effect, and a lot of people are saying that ‘Fred is the most electable candidate’ — which becomes a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.
I’m not a FredHead. At all. SO far I have not been impressed with much. So convince me I am wrong. And convince me this allure to Fred isn’t just the result of a lack of better “quality” candidate. Show me where Fred puts America first.

Beware of anyone who tries to convince you of any politician’s worthiness. Remember, you can always tell when a politician is lying: his lips are moving. We have plenty of time before the 2008 presidential elections — take comfort in the fact that we shall know them by then. If it hisses like a snake, slithers like a snake, and bites like a snake — it’s a snake.
By the way, Raven . . . do you realize that it is impossible to assassinate the character of a politician? That’s because no matter what you say about them, it’s probably true.
July 1st, 2007 at 9:26 pm
Hehehe…where have we heard that before- the hehehe??
Why…Beavis and Butthead. Who are probably more honest and upfront than any damn candidate we have before us. They are so simple, so stupid yet SMARTER and more complicated than all those running for POTUS. Hmm…this doesn’t speak highly of them now does it?
A snake is a snake. And those who join bandwagons without knowing the facts are bound to find the bandwagon FULL of slithering slimy snakes that aim to choke the life out of this country.

If you are taking Harrington seriously, there’s your first mistake. Secondly, for all the bs that’s spreading around about every candidate, I hope you would check out every one’s positives and negatives. All in all, if you need to be convinced and are using sources that are skeptical at best, then there’s really not much I can do for you. I can’t get down on my knees and beg over the internet, if that’s what your wanting, and I’m not that desperate for anyone to vote for the man in the first place. If you like what you see, then vote for him. If not, then a certain candidate who will remain nameless will gladly accept you into his shadow world of fanatics and 9/11 apologists. If you buy into the psuedo conspiracies usually spewed by supporters of a certain candidate who shall remain nameless so you are not overrun by their supporters, than you are buying into 9/11 truther propaganda. By believing their own garbage, then you are basically believing those who want to give into the terrorists and get out of the Middle East without a clear victory.
Here is all the research you will likely need on what he did.

My source was Harrngton’s site who pointed to me the linked sites in this post.
From there I went to the http://thomas.loc.gov/home/r110query.html where I actually checked the voting record of Fred. The facts speak for themselves.
I ask again- please convince me why Fred is worthy of my support? I know Ron Paul isn’t a winner, nor is Tancredo. I’m not stupid and your comment leads me to believe you think I am. You’re a great spokesperson from DraftFred.com BYW…and you just turned me off even more to him. Good job trying to sell your guy. I’m looking for honest answers here, not campaign sponsored talking points.

I don’t think you are stupid, and those aren’t campaign sponsored points at all. Those are comments from someone who has spent the last months having to defend him against Paul fanatics, and is frankly tired of it. I think you are mature enough to seek out both Thompson friendly sites and Thompson negative sites and make up your own mind. I don’t want to convince those who are unwilling and skeptical to begin with. His official records and speeches are archived at the blogspot site, and many questions are answered intelligently at the other site. I tried to post links to his whole voting record, but the site wouldn’t let me. Harrington basically ignores his complete record, by focusing on a few negatives taken out of context. Check his votesmart record.
Archives to his complete senatorial record is posted at the blogspot site above.

Raven,
Fred blogs over at ABC at The Fred Thompson Report.
Click here and tell me what you think.
Personally, I think that Thompson made a few missteps, like supporting the abortion that was McCain-Feingold, which he admits now is not a very good thing. I want to see the man’s platform and where he stands. Remember, Reagan supported amnesty in 1986. Everyone makes mistakes. I like what Thompson is saying right now, that is for darn sure.
July 1st, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Plus, he pissed off Michael Moore.. doesn’t get any better than that…
July 1st, 2007 at 10:29 pm
I’ve seen that Duncan. Again, it doesn’t show me he’s any different from the other candidates.
Yeah we all make mistakes but he hasn’t admitted to this esp when it comes to immigration. Knowing it’s such a HOT issue…I would think he would have more to say.
Michael Moore? I could piss him off. So could you.
Bush pisses MM off… LOL that doesn’t make the man.
July 1st, 2007 at 10:36 pm
hopefully Fred announces soon, and puts a platform up so we can all read his positions on all the issues. What I have read of his writings lately, I likey very much. You and I could probably piss off Moore, but not enough to get challenged to a “debate”… I am not saying that is a reason to vote for him, but it makes me like him a whole lot moore.. (no pun)

okay.. there was pun intended…

There is nothing to convince — Mr. Thompson is being portrayed as a conservative because he is the puppet of Karl Rove, Mary Matlin, and George P. Bush. Rove’s protege is working on his campaign. They had to have someone to continue on the Bush legacy of Immigration (check out his immigration votes). He is nothing but an empty suit, he mumbles in interviews, has a hard time staying on track, and is not ready for prime time. Hillary would clobber him but maybe that is what is wanted. Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton(?)
July 2nd, 2007 at 12:09 am
Been a while since I’ve checked in here. A little surprised to see the hostility towards Thompson but then again I know about your iconoclastic proclivities. Do you oppose all immigration now? Since that is most of what Thompson was voting on, I have to assume that’s the case. Not going to try to change your mind but I am a little surprised that you want to be spoon fed your information, not like you….

What Everybody’s Talking About
Looking at what’s on my blogroll
July 2nd, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Hmmmm . . . . Someone’s been reading my blog, methinks.
It’s a fair statement to say I’m a conservative. I just recently registered “Republican” in the last election so I could vote for “W” in the primary; but most of my life I was born and raised Democrat. My first vote for President was for Jimmy Carter.
Yes, I’m old.
I spent 15 years in the Army, and I’ve traveled the world, met exotic and interesting new people. Even fought in a war or two. So when I got home it was with a deep-seated, resounding, ultimate conviction through to the marrow of my bones that the way of life we have in America may not be perfect, but it’s the best thing going known to man. You can advocate your socialisms, your communisms, your Ummahs, and the like — give me good old representative democracy any day.
So my political choices reflect these beliefs. I tend to keep an open mind on someone until I know enough to feel they’re un-electable, or that I just don’t care for their politics. Since the Democrat party left me behind in the Reagan Revolution, there’s been no Democrat I’ve even considered just on political beliefs (although I did briefly like Gary Hart until he cheated on his wife.)
McCain’s okay, but he’s got a temper and he compromises with the Libs too much. I Love Tancredo, but realistically he’d never win — and I was one of the folks who spoiled the election for Bush in ‘92 by voting for Perot. I’d be afraid a vote for Tancredo would put Hillary in the White House (((shudder!!!)) Rudy’s got a lot of baggage; Romney flip-flops a lot. They’re all politicians.
Fred Thompson . . . is not.
Fred is a little ol’ country lawyer from Alabama by way of the great state of Tennessee. His first exposure to Washington was a a junior counsel on the Watergate impeachment hearings. He was one of the first to call for Nixon’s resignation — he’s an honest man. From this he was asked to consult on a movie about Watergate, and ended up with a fairly substantial film and TV career playing the plain-spoken lawyer-type, and frequently various military folks as well. He was appointed to fill an unexpired term for /senator in Tennessee in 1994, and won re-election to a seat that had been traditionally democrat before that.
The thing I like about Fred most is that he speaks his mind — and I’ve yet to hear anything I don’t like. He’s conservative; he shoots straight; and he is by **no** means anything like politically correct. He lets those chips fall where they may, and doesn’t care what people think about it.
He’s also the last guy you’d look to for any kind of political candidate. Hardly photogenic; speaks his mind; and quite the ladies’ man in his day. I reserve the right to change my mind should we discover he’s a Satan-worshiping neo-communist who drinks the blood of little blonde children, but I don’t see that happening.
And you gotta love a guy who scares the living crap out of most of the Demo-crap candidates. His anme is literally a 4-letter word.

I’ve checked out the sites and still cannot find much about his views on immigration. How come?? Why not??
The few things I have found are enough to keep my support from him. Sorry folks. He’s no different than the rest.
ZD- long time no see. I am against ILLEGAL immigration. And I haven’t been spoon fed anything. I checked the ccongressional record…facts and votes speak for themselves.
JD–lol-
You’re the only one who has bothered to write a thoughtful and honest opinion on this and not copied and pasted things I have already read. Thank you…for not attacking me, for not bashing me. I appreciate that more than anything. BUT, nothing you say is different from what I have read about other candidates at other blogs- except that Fred isn’t an insider. I beg to differ on that- he was an insider which makes him much like the others.
I’m gonna post about the others as well- the Romneyheads and Hunterworshippers and the rest. I want to know WHY I should vote for these people.
So far I haven’t decided on a one of them. None of them seem to put America first. IMHO.

Okay, now you’ve done it — you made me go and do some RESEARCH!!!
There’s a new YouTube up at my website where Fred addresses Immigration. It’s short and to the point; and I love the way Fred speaks plainly without out-and-out insulting the Mexican government. He basically says that (a) we’re going to secure our borders, Period, and (b) why does Mexico suck so much that twenty million of it’s citizens are fleeing it’s borders for ours?
I just found out yesterday that Fred is also a member of the churches of Christ, as am I. That would make Fred the third most recognizable member of the C of C, after Max Lucado and David Robinson (formerly of the San Antonio Spurs.) And that tells me everything I need to know about Fred to seal the deal. If he attends the C of C, it means he:
(1) Attends Church every week,
(2) Is very learned and versed in his Bible studies,
(3) Prays regularly and publicly,
(4) Is a conservative Fundamentalist Christian,
(5) And while he is Pro-Life,
(6) He is more open-minded, thoughtful, and reasonable than most “conservative Fundamentalist Christians” tend to be.
All I needed to know right there.
I am no longer a “Fred-Head” — Today I am a “Fred-azoid.”
