Okay, now you've done it -- you made me go and do some RESEARCH!!!

There's a new YouTube up at my website where Fred addresses Immigration. It's short and to the point; and I love the way Fred speaks plainly without out-and-out insulting the Mexican government. He basically says that (a) we're going to secure our borders, Period, and (b) why does Mexico suck so much that twenty million of it's citizens are fleeing it's borders for ours?

I just found out yesterday that Fred is also a member of the churches of Christ, as am I. That would make Fred the third most recognizable member of the C of C, after Max Lucado and David Robinson (formerly of the San Antonio Spurs.) And that tells me everything I need to know about Fred to seal the deal. If he attends the C of C, it means he:

(1) Attends Church every week,
(2) Is very learned and versed in his Bible studies,
(3) Prays regularly and publicly,
(4) Is a conservative Fundamentalist Christian,
(5) And while he is Pro-Life,
(6) He is more open-minded, thoughtful, and reasonable than most "conservative Fundamentalist Christians" tend to be.

All I needed to know right there.

I am no longer a "Fred-Head" -- Today I am a "Fred-azoid."

I've checked out the sites and still cannot find much about his views on immigration. How come?? Why not??

The few things I have found are enough to keep my support from him. Sorry folks. He's no different than the rest.

ZD- long time no see. I am against ILLEGAL immigration. And I haven't been spoon fed anything. I checked the ccongressional record...facts and votes speak for themselves.

JD--lol-
You're the only one who has bothered to write a thoughtful and honest opinion on this and not copied and pasted things I have already read. Thank you...for not attacking me, for not bashing me. I appreciate that more than anything. BUT, nothing you say is different from what I have read about other candidates at other blogs- except that Fred isn't an insider. I beg to differ on that- he was an insider which makes him much like the others.

I'm gonna post about the others as well- the Romneyheads and Hunterworshippers and the rest. I want to know WHY I should vote for these people.

So far I haven't decided on a one of them. None of them seem to put America first. IMHO.

Hmmmm . . . . Someone's been reading my blog, methinks.

It's a fair statement to say I'm a conservative. I just recently registered "Republican" in the last election so I could vote for "W" in the primary; but most of my life I was born and raised Democrat. My first vote for President was for Jimmy Carter.

Yes, I'm old.

I spent 15 years in the Army, and I've traveled the world, met exotic and interesting new people. Even fought in a war or two. So when I got home it was with a deep-seated, resounding, ultimate conviction through to the marrow of my bones that the way of life we have in America may not be perfect, but it's the best thing going known to man. You can advocate your socialisms, your communisms, your Ummahs, and the like -- give me good old representative democracy any day.

So my political choices reflect these beliefs. I tend to keep an open mind on someone until I know enough to feel they're un-electable, or that I just don't care for their politics. Since the Democrat party left me behind in the Reagan Revolution, there's been no Democrat I've even considered just on political beliefs (although I did briefly like Gary Hart until he cheated on his wife.)

McCain's okay, but he's got a temper and he compromises with the Libs too much. I Love Tancredo, but realistically he'd never win -- and I was one of the folks who spoiled the election for Bush in '92 by voting for Perot. I'd be afraid a vote for Tancredo would put Hillary in the White House (((shudder!!!)) Rudy's got a lot of baggage; Romney flip-flops a lot. They're all politicians.

Fred Thompson . . . is not.

Fred is a little ol' country lawyer from Alabama by way of the great state of Tennessee. His first exposure to Washington was a a junior counsel on the Watergate impeachment hearings. He was one of the first to call for Nixon's resignation -- he's an honest man. From this he was asked to consult on a movie about Watergate, and ended up with a fairly substantial film and TV career playing the plain-spoken lawyer-type, and frequently various military folks as well. He was appointed to fill an unexpired term for /senator in Tennessee in 1994, and won re-election to a seat that had been traditionally democrat before that.

The thing I like about Fred most is that he speaks his mind -- and I've yet to hear anything I don't like. He's conservative; he shoots straight; and he is by **no** means anything like politically correct. He lets those chips fall where they may, and doesn't care what people think about it.

He's also the last guy you'd look to for any kind of political candidate. Hardly photogenic; speaks his mind; and quite the ladies' man in his day. I reserve the right to change my mind should we discover he's a Satan-worshiping neo-communist who drinks the blood of little blonde children, but I don't see that happening.

And you gotta love a guy who scares the living crap out of most of the Demo-crap candidates. His anme is literally a 4-letter word.

Been a while since I've checked in here. A little surprised to see the hostility towards Thompson but then again I know about your iconoclastic proclivities. Do you oppose all immigration now? Since that is most of what Thompson was voting on, I have to assume that's the case. Not going to try to change your mind but I am a little surprised that you want to be spoon fed your information, not like you....

There is nothing to convince -- Mr. Thompson is being portrayed as a conservative because he is the puppet of Karl Rove, Mary Matlin, and George P. Bush. Rove's protege is working on his campaign. They had to have someone to continue on the Bush legacy of Immigration (check out his immigration votes). He is nothing but an empty suit, he mumbles in interviews, has a hard time staying on track, and is not ready for prime time. Hillary would clobber him but maybe that is what is wanted. Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton(?)
