Japanese Minister – Atomic Bomb inevitable… (UPDATED/BUMPED)

Posted by Duncan on July 3rd, 2007

UPDATE
: Defense Minister Fumio Kyuma resigns.

The statement contradicted the Japanese stance, fiercely guarded by survivors and their supporters, that the use of nuclear weapons is never justified. A ban on possession of such weapons is a pillar Japan’s postwar pacifist regime.

Hmm. I wonder if they’d developed the bomb first if it would’ve been part of their pre-surrender imperialist war regime?

Earlier Tuesday, Nagasaki’s mayor made an official protest in Tokyo.

“That comment tramples on the feelings of the A-bomb victims, and as a target of the bomb, Nagasaki certainly cannot let this go by,” Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue wrote in a letter handed over to Kyuma on Tuesday.

Nevermind the feelings of all of the Chinese and Southeast Asian civilians raped and murdered.

Tramples the feelings of A-bomb victims. That has to be the saddest song I have ever heard.

Original Post Below:

TOKYO — Defense Minister Fumio Kyuma said the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan by the United States during World War II was an inevitable way to end the war, a news report said Saturday.

“I understand that the bombing ended the war, and I think that it couldn’t be helped,” Kyodo News agency quoted Kyuma as saying in a speech at a university in Chiba, just east of Tokyo.

Kyuma’s remarks drew immediate criticism from Japanese atomic bomb survivors.

“The U.S. justifies the bombings saying they saved many American lives,” said Nobuo Miyake, 78, director-general of a group of victims living in Tokyo. “It’s outrageous for a Japanese politician to voice such thinking. Japan is a victim.”

Ofcourse. I forgot. The U.S. forced Japan to bomb Pearl Harbor in a sneak attack. I forgot. I also forgot about how Japan was forced to rape and ravage the South Pacific and China in its imperial conquests. I forgot about how Japan was forced to slaughtered POWs. I forgot how Japan was forced to make every civilian trained to fight the invading American army, leading to many more deaths of both soldiers and civilians, making Iwo Jima look like a picnic. THEY’RE the victims. Nobuo Miyake, you are a uber-douche…..

We don’t owe anyone an apology for Hiroshima. NO. More like the Japs OWN US and the world an apology for that war. They started it. We ended it. Period. It took millions of deaths on both sides, and for what? Nothing. If we had sat back and done nothing we would not be the America we are= and all the great things we’ve done since those days would not have happened.
The Jap survivors can stuff it.

The Japanese survivors can definitely stuff it. They are an annoying lot. And by annoying lot, I mean those who claim they are victims of the US atomic attack on their cities. The Japanese would never have surrendered but made the cost of an invasion extremely high in lives lost, on the both sides. But the bombs made it obvious that there was no way that they could win. We could simply obliterate a city at a time until they were all dead, with minimal to no casulties on our side. Too bad. So sad. Should not have started a war with us. I only hope I can say the same about the islamists, though to look at our country today I don’t see the same resolve that it had back in the 1940s.

I think we will see America use another big bomb in our lifetime…against some middle east country where crazy Islamic freaks piss off the wrong people. I actually hope so too. Sad to admit- but somehow the enemies of our times have to taken care of. The greatest generation wouldn’t have lived if they hadn’t dropped the bomb…and now our generations face the same threats.

  4. Woody Says:

The proof that atomic bombs were necessary is that it took two of them.

  5. Weapon of Mass Disturbance Says:

Put this in the box with slavery reparations and imaginary personality syndromes.

Woody… that is an excellent observation….
