I Will Not Support Fred Thompson

I’ve been patient with this so called campaign of Fred Thompson. People have implored me to give him more time to produce a platform. I have waited. I have researched his record. And I haven’t been impressed at all with much of anything I have read. Especially his congressional record on the issues important to me. Such as illegal immigration and American jobs being outsourced.

Along comes this, from one of my very trusted blogs I have read for years:

Fred Thompson is not looking like the great conservative hope which many have imagined. His hiring of open-borders henchman Spencer Abraham should be a dash of cold water on any fantasies that Fred is the real deal for a law-and-borders President. The writing is on the wall.

I went through link after link found in this post at VDare. This is very bad indeed for those of us who want to see illegal immigration become a thing of the past; to those of us who want to see America become a land where laws are respected and law abiding citizens are given opportunities to become better citizens. Mr. Spencer also seems to think terrorists don’t deserve any scrutiny and should be offered protections under US Law.

Currently we’re a land where law breakers, illegal immigrants, are given more breaks and freebies - at our expense- than any other group of people in the world. The fact that Thompson has some questionable votes on his record over these issues, along with this hiring of Mr. Abraham, tells me all I need to know. He doesn’t get my support. And he shouldn’t get the support of anyone who has a problem with the current immigration status: If Thompson is willing to hire such open border advocates for his campaign, imagine who he’d place into important government positions in charge of borders and national security.

Thank you! It is so nice to read a blog where someone has actually done the research as it has been so frustrating because people won’t listen that he is not the savior of the GOP. If anyone checked his record on Immigration he was for whatever and the Chamber of Commerce wanted and now with the hire of Abraham some are still making excuses. Makes me shake my head because these same people spent hours researching other candidates but zero researching Thompson.

May I suggest you support the rock ribbed Reaganite that will get the chicoms and mullahs to soild their shorts? Duncan Hunter, of course.

I haven’t given up hope either; but I’m sorely disappointed. This very well may be a Deal-Breaker for me.

Since I lurched right 20 years ago, all Republican candidates have disappointed me eventually. This, in contrast to Democratic candidates who infuriate me.

My libertarian friends would say that the key is not to look for great leaders, but to settle for above-average ones and limit their power.

I posted this on Friday as well. What truly disappoints me is the fact that though Abraham isn’t the only cowboy in the rodeo, Fred had to go and pick him specifically.

The other day My kids and I were talking about politics, and I asked them if mom gave them a glass of pure clean water with four drops of poison in it, would they drink it. Their answer was no because, though the glass is almost full pure water, those four drops of poison would still kill ya.

Our past compromises and concessions to Islam is the reason we are fighting those nut bags today, and I see Abrahams as poison to Fred and this country.

I like what you’ve done to your blog.

As my friends know, I am first and foremost an American, then a conservative and way at the bottom of the list of things I am is the word “republican” (but I don’t remember if repub is above or below knuckledragger  ) Having said that, I will state categorically that it is the job of the henchmen to carry out the policy of the top guy, not the other way around except in “liberal” circles. I’m not sold on Thompson or any other repub or libertarian yet. But I’m DAMN sure not sold on the Dems, they scare the crap out of me, far more than Spence Abraham does. Far, far, FAR more.

Nice post. Fred Thompson has made an error in his tacit support for illegal aliens and terrorists. I agree, this makes him unfit for President. Good job and thanks.

Thompson is showing his true colors now..and this was indeed a tactical error on his part. Will he live it down? Time will tell…but he’s not getting my support. I read more about this manager and his ties to radical Islam and the support of the mission of terrorist groups concerns me MUCH MORE than immigration. If I can find info that easily so should have Thompson. Apparently he doesn’t care enough to be concerned.

    His loss.
