Monday Early Evening News & Links

Posted by Raven on August 13th, 2007

  • So Karl Rove is resigning. WHO WILL the leftards blame (all things evil and not) on?
  • A terrorist supporting group is on trial:

Federal prosecutors and FBI agents are building a case against a Muslim charity on trial in Dallas on charges of providing financial aid to the terrorist organization Hamas and of raising illicit cash for other extremist groups.

Five officers of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development — once considered the largest Muslim charity in the nation, but which U.S. intelligence officials have called the North American fundraiser for the Islamist terrorist group Hamas — are on trial in Dallas, charged with aiding terrorism, conspiracy and money laundering.

  • Beth sets the record straight for this issue (not) presented in an op/ed last week:

See, unlike Ellen Goodman and her ilk, I never really thought about “traditional” gender roles–until I actually MET women like her. And unlike certain others, I didn’t have a light bulb go off that said “OMG! The menz are oppressing me!” It’s always been a shrug and “whatever” for me, because I don’t let others define me. I’m not a freaking victim. I don’t have the most highly-trafficked blog on teh internets (shocker!), but it’s not because I’m female, fer Chrissakes.

  • And another Islamic Group is titled a Terrorist Organization.
  • Spot On:

In the very first opportunity illegal immigrants (I feel like I should throw in “undocumented workers” here just for fun) have been given to appreciate the amazing gifts of freedom and opportunity that American society offers, their first act is one of defiance and disregard for the law and our social compact. They say with their actions, “Yes I want to be here. Yes I want to be a part of the American dream…but it will be on my terms…on my timeline….the way I want it. Your laws, your rules, your culture and your society are not as important as my needs.”

  • Okay…this is warped thinking at it’s best.
  • Big Dog has a book review worth reading:

The book An Enormous Crime by Bill Hendon and Elizabeth Stewart detail the issue of POW/MIAs from the very beginning until the Kerry dismissal of the evidence. There are countless items discussing sightings of Americans held in captivity years after the war ended and while Vietnam was declaring it held no Americans. The truth is they held Americans and were trying to use them as a bargaining tool in order to get America to pay for the repairs to Vietnam.

Read the rest. And remember why John Kerry got swiftboated. He’s an evil man. Who will one day answer to many a vet.

  • Kender thinks this is cute. I say it’s cheesy as hell.
  • Kevin @ Pundit Review talks to Darryl Sharratt, father of Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt:

Things got pretty emotional when Darryl talked about Justin having to end his career in the Marines prematurely. He’s been put through hell, and he deserves to have his story heard. Darryl was upset with the lack of media coverage and their insistence to call this the ‘Haditha Massacre’ even though the facts in the case have proved that to be incorrect.

Justin is now the third Haditha Marine cleared. How does Murtha sleep at night?

  • Uuugh. Just uuugh. I go give him the permission, because he argues with me when I protest this marriage.”
  • The Shrill-Shillary Effect:

WASHINGTON – Looking past the presidential nomination fight, Democratic leaders quietly fret that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at the top of their 2008 ticket could hurt candidates at the bottom.

They say the former first lady may be too polarizing for much of the country. She could jeopardize the party’s standing with independent voters and give Republicans who otherwise might stay home on Election Day a reason to vote, they worry.

Damn straight. Even the ants and slugs will come out to vote (made legal courtesy of the Lemoncrats) against Hillary if she makes it that far.

  • Yes…email can be problematic. But let’s not go overboard here.

  • Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Chrissie made this image for me today. Isn’t it cool? She’s an artist for sure..and a good friend. THANK YOU CHRISSIE!!

    1. Bigfoot Says:

Rove’s resignation is an attempt to prepare the lefty nutroots for the shock and withdrawal they’ll be going through on 1/20/2009, when Dubya steps down. Shock because he won’t be declaring himself president for life like the nuts expect him to. (We’ll leave that kind of arrogance up to Hugo Chavez, but I digress.) Disappointment because they won’t have Dubya to pick on anymore. But then, if a Repub wins the White House in 2008, the left will waste little time in moving their derangement syndrone from Dubya to the next guy.

As for that illegal immigrant I have composed a short poem:

      Obey our laws,
      We’ll treat you well.
      Defy our laws,
      Then GO TO HELL!!
