John Edwards: Investor Extrordinaire Who Exploits The Poor
Posted by Raven on August 17th, 2007
John Edwards: Many people know he’s a blowhard- a millionaire who pretends to be the MAN for the working class peoples of America. His campaign is all about the TWO AMERICA’S- which America does he live in though??
(WATERLOO, Iowa) — Six Democratic presidential contenders, courting one of the party’s most crucial interest groups, pledged Wednesday to work to reverse decades of decline in the nation’s union movement.
[...]
“As long as I’m alive and breathing, I will be standing with you,” said Edwards, who joined Obama in pledging to walk a picket line if elected. “Think about a president of the United States walking a picket line,” Edwards said. “You’re looking at one.”
Uh huh….
Aug 15, 2007 — Manly, Osage, Charles City, Waterloo and Waverly, Iowa – On the third day of Senator John Edwards’ “Fighting for One America” tour, Edwards outlined his plan to create One America where hard work is rewarded and families can build better lives. Edwards emphasized his agenda to protect and strengthen America’s families by raising the minimum wage, reviving the Department of Labor, enforcing workplace safety laws, guaranteeing health care for all Americans and fighting against predatory lenders who keep workers trapped in poverty.
KEY words here- re-read that last part of the last sentence. Absorb it.
So how does the Silk Pony explain this?
As a presidential candidate, Democrat John Edwards has regularly attacked subprime lenders, particularly those that have filed foreclosure suits against victims of Hurricane Katrina. But as an investor, Mr. Edwards has ties to lenders foreclosing on Katrina victims.
The Wall Street Journal has identified 34 New Orleans homes whose owners have faced foreclosure suits from subprime-lending units of Fortress Investment Group LLC. Mr. Edwards has about $16 million invested in Fortress funds, according to a campaign aide who confirmed a more general Federal Election Commission report. Mr. Edwards worked for Fortress, a publicly held private-equity fund, from late 2005 through 2006.
H/T to the Captain, who says this:
Edwards has conducted a “poverty tour” as part of his campaign this year, emphasizing his Two Americas theme. One of the stops was in Cleveland, where he walked a neighborhood particularly affected by foreclosures. He told reporters, “This is not complicated, this is wrong,” as he walked the streets, but the WSJ did some checking afterwards– and four of the foreclosures came from Fortress Investment lenders.
John Edwards did a stint one day (ok a couple of hours) not too long ago- he “worked” as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home: This is another tactic many of the Lemoncrats are using to portray themselves as the Party of the People. But do any of the liberals and lefties in this country see the fraud here? The hypocrisy? Probably not…they make excuses and deny these things and, of course, blame the Republicans for some conspiracy. When will people wake up and smell the burnt coffee here? And will Edwards own up to his own bag of bulloney here??

Hypocritical douchebag.
My wife says Edwards reminds her of a flashy used car salesman.
Pretty good observation.. imho..

Yeah, don’t you just love how the Dems love to complain about that “gap between rich and poor”, while so many of them have no qualms about living on the rich side of the gap?
Now I have no problem per se with people being rich, even with Dems being rich. But when these rich lefties tell me that I should be handing over even more tax dollars than I already do, because someone out there is worse off than me, when they themselves are way better off than me, they make me sick.

I just laugh my butt off reading about Edwards. This is the best and brightest hope of the Democraps? This is so pathetic it’s not even sad anymore; it’s downright hilarious.
And then, just for the sympathy factor, he announces his wife has cancer — then lets her be his attack dog! “Oh, nobody will pick on the poor cancer-ridden Mrs. Edwards.” Wrong, bucko — we’ll just ignore her as irrelevant.
Sad — and almost as pathetic as the schmucks who are giving him campaign dollars — to a multimillionaire!!!

I’m sure edwards wasn’t concerned that he would be seen as a hypocritical, i feel your pain and i’m one of you BS. he just wanted to make sure he looked good in a dress.

I have no problem with rich people either, no matter what their political side. To each their own- I wouldn’t be in a long term relationship with someone with money though…I DO HAVE ISSUES with wealthy MEN..NO THANKS…
BUT back to this: I take issue with being a hypocrite; of pretending to be someone you’re not; of pretending to have some value and respect for others you would never ever associate with…and John Edwards does this all the time. He exploits the very people he so charmingly claims he wants to help.
uugh..he makes me ILL!!

I wish he had worked that day with ME. Oh hell yea.
He would have been knee deep in shit and piss…he would have been puking before ten minutes were up as I made him watch some good ole fashioned nursing care being done…heh…oh I would have had FUN with that!!
