Eagles and Chickens

The protests have began. And so have the counter protests.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Thousands of opponents and supporters of the U.S. presence in Iraq will converge Saturday in the nation’s capital for a day of demonstrations.
The anti-war ANSWER Coalition is planning a rally at Lafayette Square, followed by a march to the Capitol and “die-in,” where thousands plan to risk arrest by entering areas where they’re not supposed to go.
Meanwhile, a groups that support the Iraq war are planning a rally of their own. Gathering of Eagles and Free Republic are set to meet on the Mall and line the protest route.
May the patriots carry forth the louder message today!
Of Eagles and Chickens
We Americans are a mix of birds,
Some soarers, others grounders;
And from their strong, enduring words,
More Eagles were among our Founders.
But different birds this domain share,
Some soaring, some just clucking;
While Eagles soar, patrol the air;
Penned Chickens wait for plucking.Eagles have sharp, raptor eyes,
Not so in birds fear stricken;
An Eagle fights to own his skies,
Not so the hen-housed Chicken.
Feckless fowl, they placidly peck,
Flocking to their foolish fate,
Flashing blade on feathered neck,
Must they always learn too late?That’s why we use the very word
To taunt those who won’t fight;
A Chicken is some fear-filled bird,
Whose fear provokes his plight.
Frightened fowl will surrender all,
Hoping for a peaceful ending,
Unmindful that their heads may fall,
Blind to bright blades descending.But Eagles being bolder birds,
Seek our enemies in their lair,
Screaming Eagles, forgoing words,
Strike with deadly talons there.
Proud raptors who together fight
Know something Chickens never will,
Love of country and birthright,
A rara avis grounder skill.The anti-war capons of Answer
And hysterical hens of Code Pink,
Let bird flu turn into fowl cancer,
And their pen is beginning to stink.
As they flock to the Mall in September
To disgrace and dishonor their nation
It would behoove them to remember
Watchful Eagles are on station.Russ Vaughn

**UPDATE**
I am absolutely impressed that Duncan Hunter showed up at this event. HOW many other candidates have done this today??

Being lucky enough to be live within travelling distance, I showed up, and Duncan Hunter was the only candidate I saw. (I was also at the first one on 3/17, but missed the second.) After our rally on the Mall from about 9-12, we walked up to Pennsylvania Avenue and waited for the ANSWER and Code Pink crowd. They were supposed to march down PA Ave around 12:30, but didn’t show up until around 2:00. One of my fellow Eagles even drew up a sign which said “Moonbats aren’t punctual.” The moonbats had their signs, too, some of which I must refrain from repeating verbatim. Some of them actually carried an effigy of Hillary. It seems they’re so far left that even she is too rightwing for them.

Go check out Kat’s pictures…they say much about the anti war crowd. I just read that over 100,000 moonbats showed up and only 1000 countered them.
Sheesh. I’d like to think our side could do so much better.

If “quantity is not quality”, then there’s your proof.:mrgreen:

To Raven, quoting moonbat numbers. Suspend your disbelief! Do not accept as truth what you read! At the most there were 5000 anti-American, anti-Victory protestors. There were 1000 red-white-and-blue flag-waving patriots lining the street to tell the marchers that their message was pathetic.

One encouraging trend is that each time the Gathering of Eagles has countered the protesters, their credibility in the eyes of the press (even the MSM) has increased and they are gaining more attention in the press reports. Persistence does have its rewards, even in our “instant” society. Bravo to the Eagles!
