I thought the ad was disgusting

Posted by Raven on September 20th, 2007

This is the kind of thing that makes me love President Bush:

The president was responding to a question about an advertisement run last week by the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org, which suggested Multinational Forces in Iraq commander Gen. David Petraeus was falsifying information about the war, under a bold headline, “General Petraeus or General Betray Us?”

“I thought the ad was disgusting,” Bush told reporters in the White House briefing room.

“I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democrat party spoke out strongly against that kind of ad, and that leads me to come to this kind of conclusion: That most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org — are more afraid of irritating them — than they are of irritating the United States military. That was a sorry deal,” the president said.

He speaks it like it IS. And in this instance he put aside the polite politics of it all and just spoke his mind:

“And (it’s) one thing to attack me. It’s another thing to attack somebody like Gen. Petraeus,” Bush said.

I miss the President Bush who would stand up to these assholes and put them in their place. I really do.

The next headline I read this afternoon:

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate voted Thursday to condemn an advertisement by the liberal anti-war group MoveOn.org that accused the top military commander in Iraq of betrayal.

The 72-25 vote condemned the full-page ad that appeared in The New York Times last week as Gen. David Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq, testified on Capitol Hill. The ad was headlined: “General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the books for the White House.”

And take a wild guess at who, (among others) voted AGAINST THIS:

The resolution condemning the ad was sponsored by conservative Republican John Cornyn of Texas. Voting against it were Democratic presidential hopefuls Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Christopher Dodd of Connecticut.

Chillary wants to be the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces- yet she refuses to denounce an open and immature attack on one of our most experienced Generals. This shows what’s more important to her, and to Dodd. We can’t let her live this down.

The slithery one, just like her husband dislikes the military. That’s why she could not condemn the ad. And if she can’t condemn her puppetmasters, she sure as hell can’t lead this country. Her true colors are out there, she is now and always will be nothing more than an obedient follower. A lackey in every sense of the word. No courage, no integrity, and no ethics. But she is typical, a liberal democrat.

Hillary will be as well liked as C-in-C by the military as her husbands was.. if even that much….

    As usual, follow the money…

I say MoveOn should redouble their efforts. If the forces between which Hillary is trying to “triangulate” pull hard enough in their own directions…that would be a spectacle worth viewing, as it couldn’t happen to a worthier person (except perhaps her spouse).

  8. Mike Kranston Says:

Don’t worry about Hillary. She is such a looser. Here is an article from AP:

Not only that, looks like Obama is really out of touch according to this report:

Today, for instance, [Obama] had to confront the modern supermarket.

Visiting the exhibition hall of the National Grocers Association convention here, Mr. Obama lingered at the mock-up of a checkout lane. He signed his name on an electronic pad used to detect check forgeries.

“If some guy came in and spelled Obama differently, could you catch it?” the senator asked. “Yes,” he was told, and he shook his head in wonder.

Then he grabbed a quart of milk, a light bulb and a bag of candy and ran them over an electronic scanner. The look of wonder flickered across his face again as he saw the item and price registered on the cash register screen.

“This is for checking out?” asked Mr. Obama. “I just took a tour through the exhibits here,” he told the grocers later. “Amazed by some of the technology.”

His spokesman assured reporters that he had seen the senator in a grocery store. A year or so ago. In Kennebunkport.

Some grocery stores began using electronic scanners as early as 1976, and the devices have been in general use in American supermarkets for a decade.

  9. Mac Says:

U.S. Senate Roll Call Votes 110th Congress – 1st Session

as compiled through Senate LIS by the Senate Bill Clerk under the direction of the Secretary of the Senate

Question: On the Amendment (Cornyn Amdt. No. 2934 )

    Statement of Purpose:
To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces…

I guess that doesn’t include the bashing of distinguished FORMER members of the US Armed Forces… like John Kerry, John McCain, Max Cleland…my my, they can dish it out, but they can’t take it.
