I rarely agree with anything Susan Estrich has to say. But not on this. She is one hundred percent correct here.
An assistant United States Attorney is being held without bail on charges that he flew from Florida to Detroit with the intent of having sex with a 5-year-old girl.

Now if that’s sick, perverted and disgusting, as I think we can all agree it is, what do you say about the real life mother who is defending her 12-year-old daughter’s right to front one of the largest fashion shows in the world, wearing women’s clothing?Maddison Gabriel is 5′7″ tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. At the age of 12 — just seven years older than the little girl in the first story — she fits in women’s clothing, and has modeled what have been described in the press as a number of revealing outfits at the Gold Coast Fashion Week in Australia, which chose her as its official ambassador.
Australia’s Prime Minister, Josh Howard, termed the decision “outrageous,” arguing that “we do have to preserve some notion of innocence in our society.”

Of course Maddison was not chosen for the head on her shoulders, but the body underneath it. Even she knows that. “I believe that I can fit into women’s clothes. I can model women’s clothes, so I should be able to do it,” she said.
…and I fit in little girls clothes, so should I do that?
The age of innocence is getting younger and younger. More and more, we hear stories about 3, 4 and 5 yr old girls being the objects of some men’s unholy affections; it’s not shocking anymore to see grown men drool over these 13 yr old “models” either.
Where did the standards go? I feel bad for parents of girls now a days- the scum they will have to fight against is much worse than just a few, 2 or 3- yrs ago when my daughters were still growing up. I think the Internet has a lot to do with this- the proliferation of porn and especially child porn is unbelievable. Pedophiles are much more mainstream now and although most people still react in shock to these perverts, many others stand up and defend them and their “rights”. Human beings can control themselves. Thats what separates us from the other animals. Are we evolving backwards or what?

We’re seeing the acceleration of a trend that is removing the mystery and the joy of sex and turning it into another commodity for sale. What is particular scary is that the mothers, who should be their children’s advocates and protectors, are instead betraying their parental responsibility toward their children for some variant of 30 pieces of silver. I fear for the next generation, who will find themselves even more unmoored.

These Mothers are not Mothers…my daughters are home with me tonight and they have read these articles- it doesn’t shock them- about the 13 yr old model. It saddens them though. Once again, girls and young women are being exploited by a shady side of our society that has no morals or values.
