How much combat have you seen where you can judge this personally, Raven?

You are right. You do come across as mean and vindictive, as well as cruel and cold. In your intensive studies of psychiatric disorders, have you spent some time reading about Axis II disorders, also known as Personality Disorders? You may find a lot to relate to in that category.

My post on this story raised some questions I had about Awad's bona fides. I am still attempting to verify he is who he said he is.

It's a good thing you told him to JUST GET OVER IT, because it's scientifically proven that all people need to do to recover from depression or PTSD or other mental disorders is to JUST GET OVER IT. Just because someone looks able-bodied doesn't mean he is. Do you also yell at people who park in handicapped spots if they don't have a noticeable limp or aren't carrying their own oxygen?

And when you get the stupid macho mentality of comments like Mr. Long's, that somehow someone is less of a man for reaching out for help and telling his troubles, it's no wonder there are so many servicemen and women who won't ask for assistance, and who may someday "snap."

My buddy is a USNR medical CPO at Bethesda. He tells me that his duty is special and blest in taking care of our wounded warriors. As a USMC brat during the Vietnam War I walked the halls of Philly NAS with Gunny dad and SAW the cost and sacrifice of freedom. Bless you all and

I know I come across here as mean and vindictive. I guess in a sense I am when I see people claim to have problems they cannot overcome- when they COULD if they just tried. And I have the other side I see and work with everyday...the really needy and profoundly wounded- who speaks for them? Who demands they get "better", no, just necessary, care and treatment? Awad is a blowhard. He's an idiot who doesn't even begin to understand what war wounds really are. He should be ashamed of himself as should the reporters who don't fully compare the different levels of injury and the impact upon human life.

Major Awad needs to grow a pair; at minimum, he needs a spine.

This article excerpt reads like the Jesse MacBeth and John Kerry war stories -- hollow, and false.

Cowboy up, brother.
