U Comment? I Will Follow

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

What’s this? This site has joined the MOVEMENT.

The attribute rel=”nofollow” for hypertext links in HTML web pages was originally proposed as a way to limit the effect of blog and forum comment spam on search engines’ indexes. However, the proposal has some serious drawbacks. We want you to watch the spread of nofollow and support us. We give you some very good reasons against nofollow and show you that there are a lot of people out there, thinking like we do.

11 reasons to JOIN UP:

1. nofollow does not prevent comment spam
2. nofollow is confusingly named
3. nofollow harms the connections between web sites
4. nofollow is not useful for humans, just for search engines using PageRank or a similar technique
5. nofollow could be used to shut web sites out
6. nofollow discriminates legitimate users as spammers
7. nofollow heists commentators’ earned attention
8. nofollow could be used to further discriminate weblogs
9. nofollow prevents the Web from being a web
10. nofollow eliminates the dissemination of free speech
11. nofollow was developed in privacy with only search engines companies taking part in the discussion

Not joining the movement makes you a selfish blogger:

Until yesterday, I had no idea that I was being a selfish hostess on my blogs to the point of even cheating YOU out outbound links - even when you would place your website URL in the optional field of the comment form. It wasn’t being recognized.

Most everyone who has a blog or a website will know that improving the Google Page Rank of your site is key when it comes to 1. being found 2. increasing your audience and 3. increasing your strength in the area of monetizing (more money!).

That’s all been fixed now!

I didn’t realize this was happening- in fact I pay little attention to these things. Until I started reading all these blogs that list tips for bloggers. I didn’t even know this no-follow thing existed. The more I read, the more I learn!

WordPress users: Get the plugin HERE.
Other blogging platform users- here is a list of resources for YOU.

Join now. Stop being unintentionally selfish!

I agree with the nofollow backlash, but I like to be *selectively* selfish and use the Nofollow Case by Case plugin (not that many trolls will actually reveal their own site in a negative comment.)
