Bacon Chili
Posted by Raven on October 14th, 2007
Cooler days are here in my area. I like to use my crock pots for cooking on the weekends- and most other times too. I have dozens of recipes for CHILI.
This is very good and hearty and quite filling! AND EASY to make. I cooked the ground beef and bacon Friday afternoon and just threw it all into the crock pot this morning before leaving for work. When I get home tonight it’ll be all ready to eat. I sprinkle shredded taco cheese on top and let it melt…mmmm GOOD!
A lot of people like corn bread with their chili- we like sourdough rolls better.
4 pounds Ground beef
1 lb Bacon
3 tablespoon Shortening
2 cups Chopped onion
2 Garlic cloves; crushed
4 tablespoons Chili powder
3 Beef bouillon cubes; crushed
1 ½ teaspoon Paprika
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon Ground cumin
½ teaspoon Cayenne pepper
½ cup Beef stock
1 can Tomatoes; 28 ozs.
1 can Tomato paste; 8 oz.
4 cans Red kidney beans; 1 lb cans
Heat shortening in skillet and brown beef, discard fat. Fry up the bacon or cook as desired (microwave, oven…) Cut strips in half lengthwise.
Combine all ingredients in removable liner, stirring well. Place liner in base. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours; high 4-5 hours.

I like how, when a “lefty” site doesn’t link to your bullshit, you get no comments.
BTW, one thing was left out of the chili recipe: cyanide.
Make sure to pour in the whole bottle, brownshirt.

Thanks Dave. You show your compassion so much.
You’re a fucked up person. You really are.
THANK GAWD I am no longer one of you, politically.

Raven, you never were one of us.
We’re lefties because of a generosity of spirit born of a fundamental decency. Your politics are purely reactionary, and I’ll bet quite a bit that’s one thing that hasn’t changed, and never will.
Anyway, congrats on getting your mental illness noticed.

Someone who insinuated (without a shred of evidence, by the way) that an Iraq war vet suffering from PTSD was faking cannot now be heard to complain about someone else’s “lack of compassion”.
You live by the sword, you die by it, cupcake. Stop whining about how mean everyone’s being to you and take some responsibility.
Or are you going to stomp your little foot and close comments on this thread, too, because someone dared to call you on your hateful ill-informed bullshit?

Raven & Beth… I’m 50% disabled from the Gulf War and I’d give the compensation $$$ back to be healthy again… but no regrets for I’d do it all over again. The real heroes are the one’s that gave the ultimate sacrifice! Freedom isn’t free and yes, I’ve seen phony soldiers like Atlantic City Mayor Levy – a crony soldier! Rush was right – there are phony soldiers!

Always remember — Dave’s idea of “compassion” is to take what you work for and earn at gunpoint to give to someone he likes. It’s NOT for him to work and give his earnings to help others, it’s for him to use government to take everyone ELSE’S earnings by force to give to those he prefers. That’s evil, not compassion.

Dave’s idea of “compassion” is also known as “paternalism.” You know, because those people (minorities, the sick and disabled, etc.) can’t be expected to be REAL people like Dave is!
(BTW, I’m disabled myself–60% VA rating.)

I did forget to mention, though–I hate chili. Brownshirt!!!

Right Rev- they make 6 QUART crock pots- Rival- get one at Wal Mart. I use a commercial (food service) size unit that I purchased through my employer (a rehab facility). I also own four other pots of various sizes for my side dishes.

Thanks for coming by mw-
It’s excellent- this recipe. But…I must warn you- its not at all healthy. In fact its downright unhealthy. Real comfort food. Real good. Especially after working 16 hour days.

It’s not Chili if it has beans, it’s stew.
