More evidence that socialized health care WORKS. NOT.
Individuals can no longer be held responsible for obesity and government must act to stop Britain “sleepwalking” into a crisis, a report has concluded.
The largest ever UK study into obesity, backed by government and compiled by 250 experts, said excess weight was now the norm in our “obesogenic” society.
But…but this is GB, where national health care is the norm. The government takes care of the people! What? A problem with obesity?
It’s the government’s fault!!
Obesity, the authors concluded, was an inevitable consequence of a society in which energy-dense and cheap foods, labour-saving devices, motorised transport and sedentary work were rife.
True enough. What’s a government to do though? Mandate that everyone march to and from work and or school? Outlaw remote controls, cell phones and the like? Force employers to hold exercise sessions every two hours for the workers?
Dr Susan Jebb of the Medical Research Council said that in this environment, it was surprising that anyone was able to remain thin, and so the notion of obesity simply being a product of personal over-indulgence had to be abandoned for good.
Oh puleeze. Are people that dumb, even in Britain? Perhaps but I doubt it. They know the risks. They know they pig out. They know they are unhealthy. If they cared, they would change their lifestyles. If they had to consider the COSTS of their unhealthy lifestyle they would certainly make changes…but they don’t have to worry. The big nanny, AKA the NHS, will take care of them.
There are no incentives for people…and like lemmings they will allow the government to take control of even more. And I will bet all the initiatives will make little to no difference.
