A pumpkin burger. I got this picture in an email.
Earlier this month, the Portland School Committee approved a plan that made King Middle School the first middle school in Maine to offer a full range of contraception to students in grades 6 through 8, when most students are 11 to 13 years old, according to state officials.
On Monday, committee member Benjamin Meiklejohn submitted a proposal that would give parents the option of blocking access to prescription contraceptives if they enroll their children in the health center. It also would limit contraceptives to students who are at least 14 years old.
Meiklejohn was one of two board members who voted against providing prescription birth control.
The committee will consider his resolution on Nov. 7.
“The truth is that the NHS surplus, which the government enjoys boasting about, is a sham,” said Mr Lansley.
“Public health budgets, education and training budgets and now the basic maintenance and upkeep of our hospitals have been laundered to produce this surplus.”
This comment says it all:
There are four ex-Marines.
Two were convicted of espionage, one shot the President, and one is sitting in Congress.

Raven, aren’t you looking at only the front runners when you say no GOP candidate gets it on immigration? It seems that Tancredo and Duncan Hunter get it very well and want to do all possible to reverse illegal immigration.
I trust none of the front runners including Thompson. In the primary I refuse to vote for the lesser of two/three evils. I will vote for Duncan Hunter. Then in the general election I will have to vote against Hillary.
This country’s government is owned by powerful interests and our elections are exercises in frustration.

Regarding the candidates — I believe I took the same poll that Cao took, and I don’t think the score is given as a percentage. The highest score I got for any candidate was 34, and I know I agree with my favored candidates (Tancredo and Hunter) on much more than 34%. I think the higher you rate the “importance” of each issue, the higher a total score is possible. Still, I didn’t agree with that poll, which put McCain right up there with the candidates I prefer. Yuck!
I thought this poll was about the best I’d seen:

I agree that the top-tier candidates are pretty far off, but Tancredo and Hunter really do get the issues. Too bad the MSM hates them!

Oh I know Tanc and Hunter are excellent- and I wish upon wishes that they had more attention and money and all that: I was and still am a Tanc fan- but I’m also a realistic person who sees the writing on the wall.
Neither has a chance.
So I must face it: It’s Rudy, McCain or Romney. All RINOS who just play the game. They who would put the issues I am concerned with on a different path than I would like.
I’m grappling with my conscience too on this. I have a big problem with voting the party line when that line isn’t much different from the Democrats.
