Line in the Sand
Posted by Duncan on January 30th, 2008
I am drawing a line in the sand. I am not going to vote for McCain. No matter if it means a Hillary win in ‘08. Can’t do it. Not going to do it. I will vote for my conservative Republican US Senators and Representatives in order to hopefully take back either house, and therefore block Hillarycare, and other insane socialist programs the Dhimmicrats will try to institute.
I agree with what Misha says :
I am not a slave. I am a human being, a free man, a man who will not be cajoled, blackmailed or threatened into submission by anybody, particularly those who come to me disguised as “friends” with a knife hidden behind their backs.
Mr. Massie mentions that he survived Carter and Clinton and that he’ll survive whatever comes next too. He is right. I have survived worse, far worse, and those who think that they can scare me with the spectre of what the Dhimmicrats have dug out from underneath their toenails frankly need to do their homework, because they have no idea. Absolutely. No. Idea.
My principles are mine, they’ve remained unchanged through Hell and high water, and I’m not about to abandon them for they are what I am. Without them, I am nothing. They are not for sale to the highest bidder, much less are they to be discarded in the face of adversity. They are mine, and nobody can take them away from me. I can only lose them by throwing them away myself, and were I to do so, I would be worth less than the basest cur on the planet.
So endorse your McCain, RINOs, carry him on your shoulders to a landslide defeat that will be remembered for all time, but do it without me.
Now McCain might, and probably will, beat Hillary Clinton. But he will not do it with my vote. I will look at third party candidates. I’ll probably look at the Constitution Party. (I looked at the Libertarians, but they’re way to Ron Paulish for me.) You can click here and go to their website.
They do have a Judeo-Christian basis for their platform, but surprise.. so did our Founding Fathers (despite what revisionists WANT us to believe).
They do not advocate an “American Taliban” style regime, but a secular government whose basis is founded on the those principles, and a return to what was intended by those who wrote the Constitution, not what has developed over the last 100 years.
I will need to do more research on what they believe, but after a cursory look over their platform, I can find myself in agreement with much of what they support.
But McCain. Nope. Not going to do it. Will not do it. The Republicans have lost this conservative independent’s vote for US President if they nominate Senator John McCain.

As one reader said about at Michelle’s said,
I’ve not voted for a Democrat in 25 years. I wont’ this year either. But if “my” party’s choice is McCain, I’m sitting on my hands. We’ll walk in the wilderness for the next 8 years together.
I just can not hide my disgust and disappointment at the current turn of events this primary season has just displayed…

God damn, you conservatives are a whiny-ass lot. McCain is about as conservative as they come–he’d make a shitty president, at least as shitty as your beloved Bush.
He is NOT a fucking liberal. I hope you DON’T vote for him, because I don’t want that asshole anywhere near the White House.

OP,
Don’t worry, there is plenty of “whining” over on the Dhimmicrat side with all of the fuss between Hillary and Barack. Ya know.. all the race-baiting and “dissing” going on. Atleats the used-car salesman Edwards is going to drop out, and give his voters over to Obama! More fun watching the candidates beat each other over the gender/race issues.
As far as McCain, you are right in that he is not a liberal if by liberal you mean socialist/progressive/communist, you know, like the rest of the Dhimmicrats. However, his positions on many issues (McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman) have taken a center-left tilt, something I can not reconcile.
And we both can agree on one thing though, neither of us want him anywhere NEAR the White House. Don’t worry, in the chance Hillary does win, she’ll do her best to shove America off the ledge and into the socialist toiletbowl, swirling around like a turd that is Europe. Atleast you’ll be happy as a pig in $h!t… fitting…

McCain “as conservative as they come”? Puh-lease! No one who voted to limit free speech (McCain-Feingold) during campaign season, who voted against tax cuts, who voted to restrict gun owner’s rights, and who has a “Mexico first” open-borders advocate on his staff, can be reasonably considered “as conservative as they come”.
(“Mexico first” is said open-borders advocate’s own words.)
If Hillary and McCain get the nominations, I will call this the Safari Election, because it will be the Hildebeast against the RINO.

That is hillarious. That is agood one, I might have to use that one.

Hey Oscar go take your meds ok buddy?
And McCaint is as liberal as a RINO can get. He’s pushed through too many liberal bills, refused to cut taxes, betrayed working Americans by replacing them with illegal immigrants at the whim of the business lobby; he’s tried to cut out YOURs and MY free speech…which is fine with YOU so long as MY speech is made a crime. One day perhaps your speech will be as well.
So yeah, take your medicine. Swallow it with the Kool Aid.

Okay about the line in the sand:
I agree. Right now I cannot stomach the thought of voting for McCain.
I have been to his campaign site and gone through his issue statements and platform. I have researched his history; his voting record; his speeches. He is NOT a bad man- he does stay true to what he believes in for the most part. He has changed his mind a little on immigration but not enough for me to trust him. I do think, on foreign policy, he would be the better man for the job over Romney.
Romney is a good guy too. I know him in personal ways I cannot mention- and, he was the Gov. of the most liberal asinine state we have- MA. Which is right across my southern border. I could throw my support to him if I knew who his team would be- his Cabinet. I liken him to GWB prior to his first win…a good guy with no foreign policy experience under the belt. In these times, we NEED smart and determined people running this country…who are acutely aware of our enemies and not so focused on the petty stuff (which I call health care reform, guvmint spending, tax reform…these things will all work out…) Many issues important to Conservatives will be fine; we need to worry about more Nanny State shit and terrorist attacks. Romney knows all about Nanny State, trust me- and he can buck all that.

Duncan, I admire your stance. I can never, ever vote for Hillary the Hadrian. Never.
And, if she is a demon from hell, McCain is her suck-up wanna be. Let him try to be Hillary, he is getting pretty good at it. But he is not worth voting for either. Never.

I’m disgusted by the thought of McCain getting the nomination as well, but I won’t sit out the election. I’ve been seeing more and more of the “none of the above” stuff, and I think that’s pretty feeble. The REAL “none of the above” movement is about election law changes, and I think it’s a great idea (albeit unrealistic, given that the laws would need to be changed in every state). I sure as hell won’t vote for Shrillary, or any other demorat.
If McCain gets the nod, maybe I’ll write in Ted Nugent.
Oh yeah, another “Republican rant?” Hardly. McCain’s voting record is there for the whole world to see. His left leaning ways are the reason that the media (and others on the left) are so accepting of him.

I did not say I would sit out the election, I just simply will vote 3rd Party or leave the presidential block blank. Can I talk myself into voting for McCain, I dunno. I do not want Hillary or Obama in the WH, not with a Democrat controlled Congress rubberstamping big government spending. But on prinicipal, I am finding it hard to reconcile McCain’s actions with his current “I’ve seen the light” stances on immigration, especially with his open borders “Hispanic Outreach” director.
And I do not believe McCain is an evil man dead set top destroy America. I just think he is not the true conservative he has been portraying himself as. Romney would do just fine IMHO. Does he have foreign policy experience? I don’t think McCain’s time in the Senate really gives him that much more of a boost in the experience realm of foreign policy. But I could be wrong.
And Raven, while the enemy outside the gates is dangerous, we need someone that isn’t going to open the gates to another invader, which McCain has shown more than a passing willingness to do. Without an economy, our resolve, and ability, to hold out against and defeat our Islamic jihadist foes becomes that more difficult.
