The media loves a soldier

Spot on! I vaguely remember scanning some hyper headline about suicide rates being very high among US Soldiers and Marines…because it was a MSM hit piece, I didn’t read it. This article sheds a lot of light on this subject. Make sure you read the whole thing though.
You know the war in Iraq is going better when the mainstream media stops reporting on casualties there. In fact, the casualty count has decreased so much that the media has given up claiming that our soldiers will all be killed if we don’t surrender soon, and is now forced to claim instead that our soldiers will just all kill themselves if we don’t surrender soon.
That was the tacit message in widely carried reports last week that the military suicide rate had reached crisis proportions. As I’ve pointed out before, the media has no use for the soldier when he is healthy, gung ho, and mission focused. But let him get killed, maimed, abused, drunk, arrested, evicted, or otherwise in deep trouble and suddenly they care a lot. The media loves a soldier, when he’s a victim.

I’ve figured out that there’s one good thing about electing a Democrat to the presidency. With a Dem in the White House, the media will actually report good news about our economy and whatever military activities the Dem initiates.
However, this reason is by no means enough to get me to vote for a Dem. The type of Dem that I would vote into high office (one who will defend American interests instead of kowtowing to Euroweenie internationalism, for example) has largely been kicked out of that party.

Too true, Bigfoot. Yet the libs won’t notice (especially Meaty…). No logic from that side…ah well.

The problem with media reporting during a Democrat invasion is the integrity of the news will be up for question. And they will have the perfect excuse and will use it to their full advantage: BLAME BUSH for everything bad that will happen for the next, oh say, 10 yrs or so.
And the problem with Meaty is he’s just a blog baiter. His site gets no attention unless we go over there and beat him up…he offers no posts of substance and instead does what most liberals do: WHINE AND COMPLAIN. No value. No message. No original thought. NO SOLUTIONS. Just bitching. I’m so glad I am no longer one of them.

Suicide rates are being reported instead of casualty rates because the casualty rates are neither spectacular nor are they changing rapidly. The media knows that their audience has a constant hunger for change so they cover some other angle of the war in order to hold their audience. It’s more related to economics than politics.
