Hospital Blogging? Sort of.

I want to thank those who sent me emails and other “thinking of you” good thoughts as well as the comments left for my “When Life Happens” post. Life does happen, and it can be good and bad. Now, it’s not as bad as it could be, but not that good either.
If anyone recognizes the places in these pictures, then they know where I am right now.
I found a few links to articles that caught my attention this am.
Businesses seeking cheap labor have many resources available to them, via the US Government, that enable the hiring of foreign workers to do those jobs Americans expect decent pay for won’t do….
Despite the slowing economy, companies still say it’s hard to find enough highly skilled workers. The H-1b program was designed to help businesses hire capable foreign workers, but demand for the 65,000 visas far exceeded supply in 2007, and the same is expected this year.
Many tech companies have embraced L-1 visas as an alternative to H-1bs. Companies can apply for the visas at any time of year, and there is no limit to the number of L-1s that can be issued. The United States granted 53,000 L-1s in 2006, up 33 percent from the year 2000.
But critics of US immigration policy say some companies are misusing the L-1 program. Bob Meltzer, chief executive of Visanow.com, a Chicago company that processes US visa applications online, did not accuse Progress Software, but said, “We have found and heard lots of stories recently of companies that are really kind of abusing it.”
Many of the leading recipients of L-1 visas are Indian companies like Infosys Technologies Ltd. and Wipro Ltd., labor outsourcing companies that specialize in providing foreign workers to US companies. The Indian companies’ use of the visas is legal, but Meltzer thinks the L-1 program should be available only to US-based firms.
“It wasn’t created to help the Indian companies,” he said. “It was intended to support American companies and the American economy.”
Sweet eh? How many other visas do they have to screw over Americans?
WAL-MART is evil.
FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — Mayor James Akers was watching his town “die.”
The coal industry’s demise had bruised Fayetteville, a town of 2,655 in the mountains of southern West Virginia. Tourists going to the picturesque New River Gorge helped a bit during the summer, but there was nothing to keep them around. There wasn’t much else to pump money and life into the town.
That changed in 2006, when Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Lowe’s Cos. Inc. came to town. The combination became a shopping destination, right off U.S. Route 19, pulling in sales-tax revenue and filling the town’s restaurants and shops.
The town’s budget nearly quadrupled from $700,000 to $2.7 million since fiscal 2005, Mr. Akers said. He attributes a large part of that increase to the presence of the two big-box stores.
“It’s been a great thing for the town of Fayetteville,” said Mr. Akers, who calls the stores the town’s “saviors.”
For small communities across the country, the world’s largest retailer is not just a store but a force in a town’s financial security. Fayetteville is now relishing the wealth Wal-Mart brings in. But this is a tale of two towns. The one that got the Wal-Mart and the one, just eight miles away, that Wal-Mart left behind.
Watching TV…YAWN…makes me sleepy…
Is this news? If so I must be living in some sort of parallel world because I’ve been hearing and seeing the effects of these costs for years now.
Try this. The next time you seek to seduce a lover, take a deep breath through your nose. Do you find yourself lost in an intoxicating fragrance?
You should … if you’re with the “right” person. Scientific research continually confirms the power of smell in seduction. Humans are biologically programmed to prefer the smell of certain potential mates over others. So if you want hot sex, your best bet may be to follow your nose.
Scent is fundamental to sexual attraction. What’s great is that smell is one of the most readily available tools we have in the mating dance. Smell’s effects are immediate, instinctive, primordial and profound.
This is SO true…but only with the natural SMELLS and not those odors we get from using perfumes and colognes. THEY DON’T COUNT in this stuff so ditch ‘em if you really want to attract someone.
Strangely enough, though, people don’t give much thought to scent in seduction beyond their use of perfume or cologne. Most don’t realize that in masking the body’s natural odors with fruity or musky sprays, they may actually be hurting their game. This is because one’s distinct personal odor is a major influence in whom we have sex with and how often. In seeking out someone for sexual seduction, your sense of smell overrides everything, even looks.
Scent is a powerful thing when it comes to…all and anything SEX.
OK that’s enough for now…too many call bells and other annoyances going on to blog in peace right now. There is a really nice family library place here and I may go there later for my online time.

When my dad was in the hospital (ICU for a week - post surgery), I would never have been able to cope had it not been for the free wireless service provided by the hospital. I wasn’t blogging then, but I was planning a huge golf tournament fundraiser and was emailing folks like crazy with details. Thank goodness you have your computer as an outlet as you are going through your difficulties.
I hope things improve for you soon and *hugs*.

I gotta agree; at least you can have a few diversions to keep your mind occupied from time to time. Here’s to hoping that things get back to normal for you soon…if there really is any such thing as “normal” in this world.
