The NH/Texas Connection
Posted by Raven on March 27th, 2008
What do New Hampshire and Texas have in common? They’re good places to live.
DALLAS — Four Texas metropolitan areas were among the biggest population gainers as Americans continued their trend of moving to the Sun Belt in 2006 and 2007, according to Census Bureau estimates to be released Thursday.
Dallas-Fort Worth added more than 162,000 residents between July 2006 and July 2007, more than any other metro area. Three other Texas areas — Houston, Austin and San Antonio — also cracked the top 10.
Fast growing and from what I hear, very cheap compared to other parts of the country. I’ve heard that some of this growth is from a high percentage of illegal immigrants although I don’t know this to be fact. Duncan can shed light on that.
Concord – One week after being named the safest state in the country, New Hampshire was named yesterday as the “Most Livable State.” In its annual ranking, CQ Press put the state at the top of its annual rankings for the fifth straight year.
The rankings are based on a list of 44 factors, including median household income, crime rates, business tax climate, employment, health, environment and education.
I’d say NH is doing well. We’ve got some problems- mostly caused by our Democrat controlled state government. But overall, NH is very safe and livable. And tax free, still.

Ya beat me to it! When I moved back to Texas, West Texas to be more exact, I was suprised that houses were not staying on the market for very long. Well, it turns out that all the old retirees were selling their overpriced houses in other areas of the country, coming here to retire and buy the same house for a FRACTION of the cost. Which drove up housing prices due to the demand. Assholes.
But other than that… God Bless Texas!! YEEEEEEHAAAAWWW! (obligatory stereotypical Texan response  )

I don’t know how TX can stay so ahead of the rest of the country in economic terms. One would think the state would be one of the first to fall. No matter, it’s a good thing.
Perhaps I will visit the Lone Star state one day…sounds very fun down there. I have friends who have lived there, and a cousin. Who all loved and love it.
