Air Marshals: Misidentification concerns
Posted by Raven on April 30th, 2008
Oh great.
Our government screws up everything.
Some federal air marshals have been denied entry to flights they are assigned to protect when their names matched those on the terrorist no-fly list, and the agency says it’s now taking steps to make sure their agents are allowed to board in the future.

I’m traveling to Denver for a family reunion over Memorial Day Weekend. I bought flight tickets. Maybe I’ll just road trip it and be safe.

Raven, the chances of you having an actual FAM on your aircraft is probably slim. However, this is surprising, especially since the FAMs probably carry their federal credentials with them, showing them to be a law enforcement officer, which could be checked easily. Ofcourse, in today’s world, the airlines can’t be too careful….

Makes me glad that my family name comes from Slovakia.

I don’t like to fly in general so ANY excuse not to catches my eye. Then again, a road trip out west will take me a good three or four days nonstop driving. So I have to pony it up and make a choice. If I drive, I’ll need an extra week off which I really can’t afford.
Bummer.
I’ll be my own damn flight marshal. Don’t mess with me.
