This is just a really cool weapon. It uses kinetic energy due to the acceleration caused by the Earth’s gravity. And once it hits, it has the force of an atomic bomb.. only without the messy radiation afterwards. Should park a few of these over the Middle East and North Korea…
Plus… the name is frickin’ sweet….

You get an almost identical effect if you drop them from 100,000 feet from an SR-71 at Mach 5. Nice to see the Air Force is finally upgrading it’s 1960’s ideas into 2000’s technology. About damned time.

Science has always fascinated me. Too bad I know so little about it. Great technological breakthroughs we’ve been seeing, most notably on the energy and food engineering sectors. Great blog. keep it up

Damn! I thought you had a juicy inside exposé of the polygamy ranch in Texas by some of the women there. Oh well.
This weapon reminds me quite a bit of the moon rock weapon system in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress that pounded the way to the moon’s victory over earth.
Though “Rods of God” is a far sexier name…
