Ticking Away The Moments, with Email, IM and Cells

About email and gadget overload:
SAN FRANCISCO — The onslaught of cellphone calls and e-mail and instant messages is fracturing attention spans and hurting productivity. It is a common complaint. But now the very companies that helped create the flood are trying to mop it up.
Mop what up? It’s simple. Do what I did.
Ditch the cell phone. You DON’T need it. No. Really, you don’t.
Uninstall the IM programs on your computer. It’s easy to do and will prevent, 100% of the time, instant messages from interrupting you when you are online. And no, you don’t NEED to IM. No. Really, you don’t.
Use GMail for blog related communication. Open it up at most three times a day, and only long enough to scan. Use the Labels and Filtering options to sort out important messages from the rest. GMail can handle the junk. Drop out of useless and unproductive email groups and the like. Or participate once in awhile. Don’t share your GMail with friends or family- keep your private ISP email for those important to you. Encourage your family and friends to CALL YOU or VISIT you vs sending emails!
Time is valuable. Don’t waste it with stupid things…cell phones, email and Instant Messaging are time wasters, pure and simple.
