More Chicken Little Syndrome….
Posted by Duncan on July 3rd, 2008
I am really starting to get annoyed with all of the global cooling er.. global warming.. er Climate Change bull crap.
My irritation started today when I bought tickets for my family to fly out to visit me in California while I am out there for some training. There was an option on Orbitz.com for me to purchase, since I was having my girls fly on a big-bad-evil corporate airline, some CARBON-FRIGGIN-OFFSETS! I shi’ite you not. I could buy some carbon credits in order to offset the carbon emissions to make myself feel better. I honestly could not believe my eyes. I almost wanted to look elsewhere for tickets, then realized that this was a pretty good deal and I could not pass it up.
So then I turn around and check Drudge out. Looks like more Chicken Little Syndrome stories for my viewing pleasure…
The first is that Plasma Screen and LCD TVs are worse for the environment then my family’s trip to California. Approximately 17,000 times more damaging in fact…
A gas used in the making of flat screen televisions, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), is being blamed for damaging the atmosphere and accelerating global warming.
Almost half of the televisions sold around the globe so far this year have been plasma or LCD TVs.
But this boom could be coming at a huge environmental cost.
The gas, widely used in the manufacture of flat screen TVs, is estimated to be 17,000 times as powerful as carbon dioxide.
Notice the word COULD in the second to last sentence. This is VERY important to notice because this is what the Chicken Little Crowd™ loves to use in their claims. Oh and that evil pollutant CO2. You just released some when you exhaled… SHAME ON YOU!!!
LEVELS OF THIS GAS IN THE ATMOSPHERE HAVE NOT BEEN MEASURED, but scientists say it is a concern and are calling for it to be included in any future emissions cutting agreement.
…
He ESTIMATES 4,000 tons of NF3 will be produced in 2008 and that number is likely to double next year.
“WE DON’T KNOW WHATS EMITTED, but what they’re producing every year dwarfs these giant coal-fired power plants that are like the biggest in the world,” he said.
“And it dwarfs two of the Kyoto gases. SO THE REAL QUESTION WE DON’T KNOW IS HOW MUCH IS ESCAPING AND GETTING OUT.”
“WE HAVEN’T OBSERVED IT IN THE ATMOSPHERE. It’s probably there in very low concentrations,” he said.
All of the above emphasis is mine. Mainly to point out that these pinhead climate “scientists” have absolutely no clue if ANY of the so-called Gas of Death™ has escaped, and if it will have ANY effect at all. But we simply MUST do something ’bout it. WE MUST! WE MUST! Just like CFCs. We gotta do it. And we’ve got to BAN ‘EM! Proof. We don’t need no stinkin’ proof. I’ve a Ph.D after my name DAMN YOU!!!!
Next up, the cities that I will have to retire to because I bought an 42″ LCD TV when I was 31 years old…. But atleast it will have zero-emissions…. no more buying carbon credits.. whatever will the Gore family survive on?
And GM is finally rolling out a car that gets 40 MPG without Congress having to pass a law mandating it. Ofcourse, the fact the Congress has refused to do ANYTHING useful ’bout our energy crisis, going back 15 years ago BEFORE there was a crisis, could be seen as forcing the automotive industry’s hand… however, companies will make things happen lest they go out of business… adapt and overcome… and they will…
And finally, a U.S. senator shows me why I have decided that the Republican party is quickly becoming dead to me…
WASHINGTON - An influential Republican senator suggested Thursday that Congress might want to consider reimposing a national speed limit to save gasoline and, in turn possibly ease fuel prices.
Sen. John Warner, R-Va., asked Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman to look into what speed limit would provide optimum gasoline efficiency given current technology. He said he wants to know if the administration might support efforts in Congress to require a lower speed limit.
It ain’t the damn federal government’s JOB to mandate speed limits. Nope. That is a STATE’s problem. If the feds have to withhold money in order to blackmail a state into complying with a federal “request”, then the feds have overstepped their Constitutional authority. Ya know, that old piece of paper creating the best form of government known to man. Yeah, that one Senator, the one you are wiping your old, wrinkled ass with… WHY DON’T WE DRILL SOME SENATOR! And guess what else douche-bag, the American consumer will start to slow down and conserve gas on their own without you making the decision for them. Either that or they won’t have money to eat on or buy more gas.

On this same vein, Good LT over @ The Jawa Report has a great article on Global Cool… er Global Warm… er… whatever..

It’s all junk science. There is no scientific evidence that suggests ANYTHING man does, produces, exhales, ect is harming this planet or it’s atmosphere. The Earth is an amazing thing: She regenerates life after disasters; she cleans up her own yard and I suspect Mother Nature is in charge of all this- not man. Some people are making tons of money on all this global warming, climate cooling rhetoric. And there’s plenty of people who buy into this bulloney…makes me wonder how much science education is taught.

I’ll sell you all of the carbon credits you want.

It is just so frustrating to see the mass hysteria that has been created and how people have bought into a line of baloney. An acorn falls and hits a little chicken on the head, and then everyone believes the world is coming to its end… This “eco-chic” thing, I just shake my head in disbelief…
