The Garden Party

It’s been raining a lot up here this week. Very little sunshine. So yesterday when the sun DID break through for a few hours I got out my camera to take some pictures of the garden in the back yard. I’ve worked hard to clean up this area this summer; and I’m pretty proud of the results.
All these flowers were planted by the previous owners of the house; they grew everywhere, in over-abundance. One could hardly see any grass. NOW, we have LAWN.
The flowers grow everywhere…even next to the shed. Up the shed. Over the roof of the shed…the scents are wonderful.
Most of these are wild flowers.

The SUN was so bright for it’s brief appearance yesterday. It soon clouded over and downpoured again.

I suppose the garden is doing so well due to all the rain- and warm air AND occasional sunshine. I did relocate many of these shrubs and plants to open up the yard. My friends told me they would die…they were wrong.

It’s raining again this morning. And it’s foggy and cool. I never thought I would like flowers like this. But I do. The colors and scents are gorgeous and with a little work, these last all season. My mother always kept a beautiful garden and I remember her always being outside, tending to it. Now I know why…and understand the reason.

The last two hurricanes/tropical storms down here in Texas didn’t give us even a drop in rain (despite the drop in temperatures). But my wife would be GREEN with envy if she saw those pics. We’re hoping to something similar here next spring. Complete with two new trees and a waterfall (that I am going to design and build myself). Anyways, those flowers and the entire area are beautiful. Time to start keeping up with the Joneses….

Well I didn’t DO any of this design wise…I just replanted many of the shrubs and flowers so it opened up the lawn some. The previous owners deserve all the credit for all the flowers…good grief. I was going to just cut them up and remove them all but…as they began blooming I couldn’t do it. They are to gorgeous for that. I don’t have waterfalls but we do have the river that runs thru the land and it adds to the sounds of serenity here. I like that.
My closest neighbor is 7 miles down the road. LOL…no one even knows we have this garden really. No keeping up with anyone.
