The Sleeping Giant has Woken Up!
Posted by Raven on September 4th, 2008
*** THIS POST IS GOING TO STAY ON TOP THRU FRIDAY; new content is below***
Here’s a message to all the Kosbats, biased media assholes and other assorted liberal freaks who have prayed for Sarah Palin’s demise; who have tried so hard to “ruin” her with lies, half truths, rumors and other liberal tricks of the trade:
DIDN’T WORK.
Nope. If anything, your attacks brought all fronts of Republicans together, and we choose to STAND WITH SARAHCUDA. Now and until she and McCain win.
More than just words, we’re going to make a vow:
To donate cash each and every week from this day forth, until the last moment we’re legally able to do so.
Sarahcuda has energized the might GOP base.
:ptbaa:
Oh and liberals, one more thing:
thank YOU!!
for waking up the sleeping GIANT that is the GOP.
thatisall.

I promised myself a long time ago that I would never fall for another married woman.
Normally, I am very good at keeping a promise.

I couldn’t listen to Sarah’s speech because it conflicted with Back to School night at my son’s school. I hope to find a video. From the comments I’ve been following, Sarah hit the ball out of the park and beyond the parking lot!
But the most amazing tidbit being reported is that since the teleprompter wasn’t working properly, Sarah delivered at least a substantial portion of her speech from her notes and from memory, and made some unscripted additions too, without skipping a beat. In this day and age, such ability is almost unheard of.
Plus, don’t forget the unprecedented pressure she was under, given the unremitting attacks that she and her family have been under for days. The only politician I can think of to even attempt a comparison with is Maggie Thatcher.
I was thrilled when I learned about who she was after McCain selected her, when I conclude that Gov. Palin was the best possible choice. But now, in her first test in the fires of adversity, she has shown character and adamancy that has exceeded all expectations.
Indeed, Sarah Palin could turn out to be that rarest of American political rarities: a Vice Presidential candidate who actually is a race-changer.
Let me stop here before I float into outer space…

You mean when the teleprompter goes out, you are still supposed to be able to give a speech AND be coherent while doing so??
September 4th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Duncan, did BHO say “breathalyzer”, or “Budweiser”?
September 4th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Robert there are time when it’s wise to be friends with a married woman. Heh. Now is one of them.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
LOL CT, they’re gonna accuse of going OBAMA on her…the whole messiah routine?? Don’t DO IT!!
(Okay go ahead…we’ll let yah for a day or so…)
She has energized so many people; more so than Fred even did I think. Because she stands for real GOP values and isn’t afraid to take on those who are unethical and old school.
I DO wonder how her ideas might clash with McCain’s though…and it’s not like she is running for President..right NOW. Heh. I can only hope in 2012.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
BWAHAH Duncan…you HAD to dig that little tiddybitty up now didn’t yah?? I love it.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
He said both depending upon what one wants to hear.
HEHEH
September 4th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
AND it needs to be noted that she mentioned, with real understanding, the plight of disabled children and their families, communities and the like. THAT resonates with me big time, although I know it won’t with everyone.
Liberals idea on that would be: Abort it so you don’t have to deal.

Obama:
B.A in political science from Columbia University, with a specialization in international relations
J.D. in Law from Hardvard, graduated magna cum laude; President of the Harvard Law Review
12 years (92-04) teaching constitutional law
7 years State Senator: sponsored more than 800 bills
4 years Senator for Illinos, a state with 12.8 million people
Palin:
Bachelor’s in journalism from University of Idaho
4 years Wasilla City Council (8000 people)
6 years Wasilla mayor (8000 people)
1 year “Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission”
20 months governor of a state with 660,000 people
Sleeping Giant: Has not been sleeping, it has created record deficits, gotten us into a wasteful, unjustified war, created a down economy, kept wages for the “working American” as low as possible, a managed to “lose” billions to unscrupulous subcontractors in Iraq, and managed to give us far less credibility when it came to a real crisis in Georgia/Russia, because they know we have no bite because we’re occupied elsewhere. What are you proud of here?
September 4th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Pride in America Brian. Something you probably don’t understand.
It’s not been perfect. It’s been difficult. There are many GOP sell outs and we’re punishing them by voting them out of their jobs.
Sarah has energized us though; she has given us HOPE that thinking outside the stuffy box can work.
Democrats are threatened by her and they should be; she has woken up an entire group of people who have been fed up with their party…watch out. We’re coming back to life.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
And in ALL of that experience, exactly where was ONE executive decision made by Obama? Perhaps as President of the Harvard Law Review? Maybe? Possibly? Then he taught (and you know the saying about those who teach right?) constitutional law, and you’d think he’d know more about the Constitution because of that. As a state and U.S. senator, his hardest decision was a vote for “yes” or “no”, or more than likely with Obama, “present”. Where did he make decisions that had to be made in a short amount of time? Where was he making decisions without the benefit of a committee and discussion?
Mayor – executive decisions made. Governor of the State of Alaska – executive decisions made. As a City Council Member and Ethics Comminssioner she had the same experiences as Obama..
And yes, she has more governmental executive experience than McCain, other than his time as a military officer..
And Obama is going for the PRESIDENTIAL office, not the Vice-Presidential office… If he is “qualified” then Sarah Palin is MORE than qualified…

The WSJ’s John Fund also has picked up the Thatcher theme. The opening lines from his column today:
Part of my delight today, to use a wrestling analogy, is how Gov. Palin escaped from her predicament and pulled a total reversal on her opponents.
Of course, the election is still two months away, John McCain (who has a high bar to surmount tonight after Sarah’s performance yesterday) could drop a clanger of a speech and send everyone heading for the exits, Iran and Al Qaeda could pull off an October surprise…all sorts of things could go wrong in the weeks ahead.
But for today anyway, as fleeting as the moment may be, we have a Republican ticket that I can feel proud of with genuine hope and change in the offing.
September 4th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Raven, thinking further, I don’t think your title is quite right: it’s not a sleeping giant that is waking up.
Rather your title should be:
The Ents have woken up
And if we don’t get put back to sleep and we instead bestir ourselves to start marching together, it will be something America hasn’t seen in the living memory of most of us.
One can hope anyways…

More reaction to Palin’s speech via CNN (I’m including only the negative since they are snort and spew worthy):
Yeah. All emphasis is mine. Ofcourse, Sarah Palin is this redneck hunting he-woman beauty queen from a po-dunk 8,000 people town in Alaska…. but she is also condenscending AND ELITIST! How positively schizophrenic! And the cheap shots at Obama? By what, pointing out that her resume is actually more impressive than his DESPITE the length? I guess she is unacceptable because she is not to the left of Marx is probably more correct… and respect? Anybody been watching the Obamedia’s coverage of Palin and her family?

Michelle Malkin weighs in.

why u block my video?
——————-
civil truth responds:
Hector, the problem is not the video link, per se, but rather the absence of explanatory text as to why you are linking to this particular video and why this video is relevant to the content of Raven’s post. Without such explanation, you are simply carrying out the internet equivalent of a drive-by shooting, which is not acceptible behavior.
Please understand in advance that, since I have looked at the video in question, you will need to provide an well-thought-out and well-reasoned explanation as to why this video is germane to the post and represents a good-faith contribution to the discussion. If you don’t pass the test (and I determine what is a passing grade), you’re not going to get to post your video link at our site.
I’m setting a high bar here because frankly we all here at ARS are sick and disgusted of people pissing on this heroic woman who is going to be the next Vice President of the United States.
I thank you in advance for your understanding.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
By the way Hector, I let your other comment containing the “community activist” link stay up, despite its “drive-by” character, because it’s a good object lesson as to what happens when you give rope to people not properly instructed as to its proper use.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM3oww9Vk-c
i understand you not publishing the videos, the bias never seems to dissapear in this site.
How do you plan to educate people if you don’t put different point of views, the people in that video as same as this one are all the same old republican machine that has now picked a great Woman as VP but lets be honest, Mccain is 72 and seriously alaska??? he could have picked someone who actually knows more about what being a VP is like.
i’m awfully tired of trying to talk to people like you. maybe since u guys are always tuned to the TV thats the reason why i put this video http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=184086 videos get to the point faster.
It is not a bad thing to be proved wrong, but people like you like to live in a world made out of lies you believe the scare tactics of the same party you support and you guys are so blind you just not see it.
deep down you are racist even with your own people, believe to have a right to this world when the world was made right for us all to make it better and to expand knowledge, isn’t that what God would want? to love one another and to stop wars? to stop judging people for the way the look or for their name?
this is america where things can be done and if this country wanted to promote peace it could without the need of stupid policies made in church or the need to invade any country not even if we need the oil, because that gives the people in the invaded country a reason to seek revenge in the future. the good news is that is never late to accept how wrong u can are and move on and build a much better place for us all instead of spreading all this hate and violence and applaud ignorants like John McCain who is nothing but the same as George w Bush.
and no barack is not a God or a Celebrity. he is a well educated man and if you guys cannot see past ur hate then ur messed up and i will pray for you to see the truth.
we can make the country first !!! on anything we want! this is america! Where dreams are made and anyone can be anything they want, it is not your country but Our country the best country in the world.
“People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power.”
Bill Clinton.
it’s ok if u don’t approve this, it really matter, it seems to me this site is just a small group of republican pundits.
U guys have woken up the country that’s saying no more of the McSame!!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Hector, you must tire easily since this is the first time you’ve actually talked
toat us. Nonetheless, you’ve have made it quite evident where you’re coming from.I would remind you though that the Bill Clinton is not running for President. Indeed the Obama crew and their craven supporters in the Democratic party establishment did a remarkable cynical job of throwing their longstanding, live-in partner onto the street in their rush to fellate with the new eye candy on the block. (I trust you have enought brains to match up the names with the descriptions here.)
Be reminded also that George Bush or Dick Cheney are not up for reelection. And no matter what else you might think of John McCain, he is not the clone of George Bush.
I would not exactly title your comment “well-thought-out” or “well-reasoned” – but I will still give your effort a passing grade; thus your video link will survive this time as recognition on my part that you did make some minimal effort to explain why you wanted us to see the video.
However, since you don’t really seem capable of independent thought, I suggest you not push my forebearance further with any more videos unless you can somehow pull together a coherent argument. I’m not very confident of that given your performance to date.

About that rope thing, it’s always a good idea to read directions first. I mean, after you’ve tied one end to a high ceiling and looped the other end around your neck, it’s really not advisable to have kicked over that stool you were standing on.
And just for your information (since you seem to think you know so much about folks like me), I don’t own a TV…
