I’m confident this is how the media would report if this event actually occurred

This fictional tale apparently is making the e-mail rounds, though it hasn’t reached my inbox. I’ve done some editing of my own to the story. (H/T)
On a trip to Europe to meet world leaders, Sarah Palin’s meets with the Pope, who invites her for a boat ride up the Tiber river. As the two converse, a sudden wind gust catches the Pope’s mitre and blows it off his head into the river.
Realizing that no one is going to do anything about it, Sarah calmly rises, takes off her her high heels, and steps off the side of the boat. Instead of diving into the water, however, she walks across the water to the hat, calmly picks it up, and walks back across the water to the boat. She climbs in, hands the Pope his head covering, and picks up the conversation where they had left off without any reference to what had just transpired, as the accompanying U.S. and Vatican officials look on in open-mouthed astonishment at what they have just seen.
Meanwhile, reporters from news media who had been accompanying the meeting in nearby boats began to discuss among themselves how to report this event. As a result, the front page headlines the next morning at the New York Times, The Washington Post, and the major news networks all blared the following:

Reminds me of this joke:
Two boys are throwing a football in a park in Dallas, when one is attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes a stick, wedges it down the dog’s collar and twists, breaking the dog’s neck. A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy.
“Young Cowboys Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal,” he starts writing in his notebook. “But I’m not a Cowboys fan,” the little hero replied.
“Sorry, since we are in Texas, I just assumed you were.” said the reporter and starts again.
“Little Texans Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack” he continued writing in his notebook. ”
“I’m not a Texans fan either,” the boy said.
“I assumed everyone in Texas was either a Cowboys or Texanss fan. What team, do you root for?” the reporter asked.
“I’m a New Orlean Saints fan.” the child said.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes, “Little Cajun Bastard from Louisiana Kills Beloved Family Pet.”
It is all how you present it….. friggin media…

LOL!!! It’s sad that this is even funny…but I laugh because I can see the headline now. I really can. The media is so biased and desperate to see Obama win this, they will print almost anything.
Did you know the NYT endorsed Obama today?? No!! Really.

Raven,
Here is the money quote from the NY Times endorsement:
The fringe of American politics? Class Warfare? Hints of Racism?
His policies and worldview are mired in the past?
His running mate is “evidently unfit” for the office?
I almost spit out my coffee all over my laptop…

Raven and Duncan,
The NYT piece is just another example in the left’s ever intensifying process of denying its own fringe, class warfare, and pulling the racism card behavior and projecting that same behavior onto the right.
This began with Nixon, went into hibernation for some time, but the resurfaced with the 2000 election and has intensified ever since, where they keep accusing the Bush administration of dictatorial instincts and wanting to suppress critics, etc. They are so invested into this fantasy that they do not see (willfully refuse to see in many instances) that it is Barack Obama whose campaign more and more exhibits a police state mentality that the right never envisioned, much less exhibited.
Instead they have been projecting all these behaviors and claiming as “known facts” that the Republicans are doing this, just because they know as an article of faith, as dogma that this has to be true, no evidence required.
No mystery why the left railed so about Bush’s “faith-based” politics – again a projection of their own “faith-based” politics – except that the left’s faith is rooted in their vision of the perfectability of man under their enlightened
leadershipcoercion, of the “bitter” masses “clinging to their faith and guns” (to quote the One in whom they have placed their faith).October 26th, 2008 at 1:07 am
Duncan, I too nearly got sick when I read it all…although none of it surprised me, it pissed me off regardless.
The sharp words and and assumptions are awful, and typical of the left. McCain never EVER had a chance….and it’s funny how the NYT endorsed McCain back a few months when it had to pick a GOP candidate out of the group that was running. Also, funny, a couple years back I recall an article about McCain and his maverick style setting him apart…he used to be the Republican the left loved to love.
Not anymore; not now because he’s close to being elected. And this scares the lefty Times more than anything.

CT, if Obama is elected, the Times will most likely be tough on him, as they were on Clinton. <<<—-It’s a JOKE!!<<<—-
It would take a lot of power abuse on the One’s part for the Times to notice and speak up about. I doubt they would ever recognize real abuse if they saw it.
Dumb asses.
