BREAKING: ATF Breaks up plot to assassinate Obama

UPDATE: Nevermind. This is two punks who got caught trying to rob a store, then decided to go all out and claim that they were going to kill alot of black people, and then try to go out with a bang by trying to get Obama.
A source in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told FOX News that the two skinheads, who were picked up in Crockett County, Tenn., were plotting to shoot 88 black students and decapitate 14 others described as non-whites. The source said officials believe the suspects were planning to attempt an assassination against Obama.
“They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” Cavanaugh said. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”
The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of West Helena, Ark., are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.
I sincerely doubt that these two highly trained assassins had much of a chance. In fact, had they actually began this grand plan, they probably would have killed some people. But I have the feeling that law enforcement would have quickly caught up with them, LONG LONG before the U.S. Secret Service put them down in their lame attempt.
This is much ado about nothing. The number of death threats from lunatics and crazies at all political figures is probably mind-numbing, and many of them are just that, threats with no actual intent or backing or planning. This is lame. I’m sorry for even bringing it up now.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The ATF says it has broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree.
In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads.
How well armed, how well planned, and how realistic this attempt was to actually hitting Senator Obama is not known. I have a pretty good feeling though that the average black person was in trouble though from these lunatics. I also have the uncomfortable feeling that we’ll probably see more these REGARDLESS of whether Senator Obama wins or loses. The crazy skinheads will be looking to incite a race war if he wins, and the Black Panthers and their ilk will see “whitey holding the black man down” if he loses.
I would hope that we could continue to have a peaceful transition of power either way, something which I think has made the U.S. unique. Lets hope that the proper authorities can prevent any violence occurring. And hears hoping that the American people can keep themselves from having the urge to commit violence themselves.

Its not “much ado about nothing”, they planed to kill people. They also knew they were never going to get close to Obama, but they planed on becoming martyrs for trying. The article even says “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”
Actions like these are not about Dems/Repubs or Obama/McCain. They are about people believing the negative advertising hype. Most normal people know that McCain is not a clone of GW and that Obama is not a Marxist Muslim extremist (just try saying both of these ideas out loud and you’ll see how dumb they sound). Unfortunately if you lie enough to people they will start to believe it. The nut jobs in the article are the result of a climate of fear created by negative campaigning.
I know you think these wacko’s are noting but trouble, but you shouldn’t mitigate the situation by saying they were never serious (I’m probably reading your post wrong because I’m sure your think they’re punks). To an outsider reading your post it sounds like you’re towing the republican line way too hard.

this might be a little much but even if 1/4 of the ideas are “true” its a sign people need to tone it the fuck down before they engage in politics.

When I say it is much ado about nothing, this is not a legitimate assassination plot. In fact, while they said that they wished to try to assassinate Senator Obama, from what I just heard on a radio news report, they didn’t even have a plan together. It sounds like to me that these two retards probably had put together a plan to kill alot of black people and go on a “natural born killers”-esque spree. And is that a big deal? Well ofcourse, a mass murder spree, or the plan to commit one, is not something to be brushed off.
However, this is not the big “Ewwwww. They were going to try to kill OBAMA! And they were SO close to carrying it out.” In fact, as I said above, quite possibly the opposite. In fact, I wouldn’t doubt that this was added as an afterthought or in an attempt to make themselves sound bigger and badder than they really were. After all, they were going to go after The One and all.

Interesting link, and an interesting attempt to link Sarah Palin to “terrorists”. Hell, I’ve found myself in agreement with alot of what the Constitution Party’s platform stands for, I just believe, even as a Christian myself, that they’re too “Christian-centric” to be inclusive enough to ever be a viable party.
True, we can play a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon (or your favorite terrorist)” until we’re blue in the face. Perhaps I skimmed too quickly over that news “article”, but I found no where in there even ONE degree of separation of Sarah Palin to a person who committed acts of terror against this country. I have found one degree of separation between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers.

This is sickening. I am appalled that someone would attempt to mess up our democracy by trying to kill a candidate.
There are some serious problems with Obama, but violence is not the answer. I am no fan of Barak Obama, and plan to vote against him. (His stand on abortion and infanticide are among the main reasons.) But it makes me sick that someone would want to kill him.
Obama made several stupid comments that if Mc Cain had made them would have ruined his campaign. One of the most famous was that if his daughter made a mistake (sexual), he wouldn’t want her punished with a baby.
Well, I think that if too many voters in make a mistake, this country will be punished with an Obama. I am hoping that doesn’t happen.
But if it does, then we will get what we deserve, having made the bad choices we’ve made. We will live with the consequences of our choices. That’s democracy. That’s the way it goes.
Try again in another four years if you don’t like it. Try to convince people of your point of view again four years from now.
I will be extremely disappointed if the election does not go my way. But I know that a violent reaction is not an option for me. Pray and vote. That’s all I can do.
I’m just sorry these poor slobs they arrested today don’t know that.
