Fred, war is a national effort. Supported or not. So yes, we should expect to pay for it. And yes, we can expect our kids to do it as well. Whether we like it or not.

Are we still paying for Vietnam? The war of my childhood time; a war I have no memory of?

On the same note, earned income tax evasion is wrong. It’s illegal and unethical and totally against what most people believe in. You can bet your ass there are as many Democrats who are wealthy who do the same damn thing. I know a few. And I’ve reported them to the IRS- along with my GOP evaders as well. Money rises about politics. Remember that.

It’s far different to compare people who DON’T WORK, WHO ARE USING and ABUSING the system, who GET A TAX refund every yr, who use the welfare benefits, to TAX EVADERS. At least the latter worked for the money. And, no one supports welfaring the well to do, but liberals support supporting those who do nothing.

Yo Duncan, what I’m telling you is that Republicans are quick to call Democrats welfare lovers, when they hypocritically take their own welfare, while telling themselves it’s not the same thing. “sheltering their wealth” huh? It’s welfare, it’s cheating, it’s ripping off the system and other taxpayers. These same people were cheerleaders for going into Iraq but don’t want to pay for it.
How exactly do you think the Bush deficit and the war should be paid for?
Do you think our children should pay for these decisions?

So what you are telling me is that our tax system is so screwed up, people are able to dodge paying taxes, and in fact TRY to get out of paying taxes? NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Say it aint SO! And you think it is going to get any better under Obama? And don’t even GET me started on that argument. As if your anecdotal Republicans have the monopoly on sheltering their wealth to avoid paying taxes…

And grow up? My friend, you need to “grow up”. You can gloat all you like. Feel free to actually. I have no confidence in Obama’s plans, and, unfortunately, we’ll all be eating crow, probably quite literally, if he gets his way. And you can take ownership of the situation…

Fred, when it comes to the welfare state taking over, your neighbors are several decades late. Other than the reforms signed by President Clinton, the welfare state has grown steadily since its inception.

I have two Republican neighbors. One takes social security and works off the books so that he doesn’t have to pay taxes. The other owns 150 acres and makes $200k a year, but he cheats on his taxes, faking selling farm products so he can get farm tax breaks, and writing off personal parties as business expenses.

Both are crying this morning that the welfare state is going to take over.

Grow up.
