Trying too hard….

Raven wrote in a post below about President-elect Obama’s first gaffe by letting the Messiah mask slip a little by making a joke at Nancy Reagan’s expense.
And something bothered me by this still shot of the press conference. Let me know if you think you can find it….

Look closely at the podium.
Remind you of another Obama Campaign attempt to paint their empty suit as Presidential?
The Office of the President-Elect??? Say wha? I believe I can honestly say that there is no such government entity, except in the mind of the Obama Campaign/Fledgling Administration. And then I went over to Michelle Malkin’s website, where she points out that:
Does Barack Obama’s transition website, www.change.gov — which is basically a souped-up version of his campaign site — qualify? As Ed Morrissey pointed out yesterday, “The incoming administration technically has no status as a government organization or program until January 20, 2009. The “Office of the President-Elect” doesn’t exist within the government.”
(UPDATE: Michelle Malkin had a reader send her an email with evidence that, apparently, there is apparatus in place for the incoming President and Vice-President to begin their transition and gather their staffs. As to whether there is an actual “Office” that gets to play pseudo-governmental agency, complete with semi-presidential seals and podiums, is still up for argument.)
Yep. Obama is indeed bring “Change” to our government. And speaking of “Change”, Bigfoot wrote about the “change.gov” website here, and one item he mentioned was the “required community service for high school and college students” plan being put forth. Well, it looks like Mein Fuehrer’s people figured out that it was either, a) causing a big stink that wasn’t worth the pain, or b), that it actually wouldn’t stand judicial muster, or c) both.
Via LGF:
Lo and behold. Tonight, after the plan was publicized, Obama has quietly thrown that “requirement” part down the memory hole: America Serves.
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
And so the era of Hope and Change begins. We get Barack Obama creating new Offices out of whole cloth to go along with redesigning the Presidential seal. Hubris, my friends. Hubris. The man, and the people who surround him, are full of it. (you can place an optional “sh” in front of the last word of the last sentence prior, if you like.)

Holy cow, I was able to catch Barry’s website before he put in this latest “change”, so to speak. It previously seemed that this community service would be routinely required of students, in order to merely graduate from high school or college.
Yep, we gotta watch this guy like a hawk.

Yeah BF, we gotta watch this guy like a hawk. He’s gonna try to sneak his agenda in there and call it “progress” in the name of the “common good”. I thought Mike at Cold Fury had a quote that was pretty good concerning Obama and Co.:
I about spit at the Little Engine that Could comment.

For me it all boiled down to two things:
1. What do we do with babies with Down syndrome? Barack said wrap them in a towel and stick them in a closet and wait for them to die. McCain chose as his running mate someone who not only said, but lived, that you wrap them in a blanket and take them home to love.
2. My friend’s baby died in an abortion clinic toilet while she begged for staff to call 911. Obama was okay with that.
There is NOTHING a candidate can promise me that’s worth buying at the cost of killing helpless children.
And to the “But Bush kills babies in Afghanistan,” show me ONE pleading mother who Bush called an airstrike on. There is a world of difference between inadvertent civilian deaths in a combat zone and the deliberate killing of a child in a medical facility.

PUKE. Oh we need to get them smileys back up here…
Uh, did you read somewhere that Barry has a web site up now asking for DONATIONS to fund this effort? Guess it’s not all free for those elected to such offices…either that or Barry needs one hell of a lot more money than is allotted for this.
Money….it’s a gas…

Obama knows that he was selected by the New World Order.
He knows he just bought and stole the election.
He knows the media got him elected.
He knows he is an illegal alien.
He knows that he is really just a pretentious ‘mutt’
He is desperate for some validation because he is just white trash!

ooooh my my my. There is a militia group somewhere in Michigan who could use your little group. Do you realize how much you sound like crazy redneck white trash?
After eight years, you can’t be gracious about someone else trying it? Ah yes, you’ll cry about how Bush was harassed from day one, but don’t forget those many Clinton appointees who are probably still paying legal fees from protecting themselves from the investigations that didn’t stick.
Your boy messed up kids, he blew it, made bad, did a lousy job by all accounts except you few crazy Bush apologists. Now, play nice, be patriotic as you’re all so fond of thinking of yourselves, and give someone else a try. It would be good for the country, that’s the patriotic part. You see, there’s more to it than just wearing a pin.

Thank you Dan.
Mr. Duncan loves to call Obama a socialist and warn that he’ll raise taxes.
See, Duncan ate at a nice restaurant for eight years, ordering everything he wanted including the Middle Eastern buffet, and the owner told him not to worry, he’d never get a bill, the bill would go to his children. Suddenly the restaurant has been sold and Duncan’s afraid the new owner will want Duncan to pay his own bill. Duncan’s pissed off, he wanted his kids to pay his bill. I think Duncan’s mad that he ate so much, but he’s afraid to admit it. He just hates that new owner.

Oooooh my my, here comes that “redneck white trash” stereotype. Say Dan, did you check out my bio page? How many “rednecks” or “white trash” do you know have a degree in chemical engineering or can play Beethoven on the piano?
A militia group in Michigan? Right now, we each have our respective parts of the country to deal with. I don’t think we’re militia types, but we certainly support the right of individuals to bear arms. On the other hand, if a Michigan militia could help us bone up on our shooting skills, maybe we could go pay them a visit.
So we should be gracious? I guess we could give it a try, but with all the vitriol that’s been spewed by Bush Derangement Syndrone sufferers over the past 8 years, we may have forgotten what gracious sounds like.
Which one of us ever said that patriotism was about wearing a flag pin? All those people who criticized Bush said that the highest form of patriotism was their dissent. I hope that they’ll remember that when we start practicing patriotism by criticizing Obama.
November 9th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
But Bigfoot, any criticism of BHO is racism, not dissent, doncha know?
Freakin’ hypocites. The only tolerance they know is of their own opinion.
As the saying goes, be careful of what you wish for: you might get it. Well, they’re just about to get it in spades.
November 9th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Ahhh yes. We’re just ignorant backwoods rubes in need of enlightenment while we bitterly cling to our outdated religion and evil guns. You know how much you sound like a condescending pseudo-intellectual asshole? Just wondering…
And we’re going to give BHO a try, don’t have much choice as he was elected through our electoral process. I didn’t see anyone here calling for a coup or anything. I think the point was that while BHO might be our president, none of us is going to just sit back and fail to criticize him when his policies are more whack than Whitney Houston on crack. And if the ad hominems get hot and heavy in the process, I guess what is good for the goose is good for the gander. While I know many didn’t like Bill Clinton, I don’t remember him getting the kinda treatment from the right like Bush recieved. Hell, I don’t think Hillary got even 25% of the treatment Bush received, and she caught alot.
But at the end of the day Dan, you can’t take a dump on the Republican president for 8 years, and then when your man is now in a position to catch his own load of ca ca, try to put on a smiley face and tell us to place nice….
November 10th, 2008 at 1:45 am
Dan, yes the Republicans did got whupped on this election. Of course, it didn’t help that the Dems had a leftist who ran to the center, whereas the Reps had a centrist who decided to dump on his base at the end of the campaign, causing many to stay home, so that he could wine and dine with his Senate pals come 2009. Same with our beltway pundits who decided to bend with the wind so that they will continue to be invited to keep writing columns. And a inarticulate president.
So go ahead and gloat a bit – hell, gloat a lot. Go ahead and create a cult of personality. But when your golem bites you in the ass, don’t come whining to us. Tyranny has a bad habit of doing that once you let it loose a bit.
My use for the Republican Party is as vehicle for advancing conservative principles and policies – and given the behavior of our Presidential candidate over the past couple of weeks, I’m finding myself starting to feel just a bit relieved he isn’t going to have the chance of stabbing us in the back as President.
Of course, I’m not to pleased at the prospect of being stabbed in the front by our nation’s incoming President and Congress – but I least I can see that direction of attack coming and thus have a chance to defend myself and perhaps prevail in the ensuing struggle.
So we’re pass the campaign rhetoric stage. It’s actions that count now. I’m going to observe and assess the decisions he makes: opposing wrong actions and being glad when things go well (which I suspect won’t happen to often, but that’s another story).
But don’t expect us to unilaterally disarm. Surely you don’t think we’re suicidal, do you? Seriously, would you trust our Congressional leadership to do the right thing on their own initiative without hearing an opppositional voice? I think Putin joining the Cato Society would be more likely…

From Daily Pundit:

Sara, are you mildly retarded? Because I don’t remember bellying up to the buffet of stupidity, as you apparently have. Perhaps you can’t read then, or you are simply projecting your visions of your typical RINO on me or something.
I don’t remember thinking that Bush’s expansion of government at a exponentially-Democrat rate was a good thing. Ofcourse, I did support the War on Terror, but then again, so did the U.S. Congress, which I think represents us all, so in that sense, yes, we all get to pay for those.
What your man, BHO, wants me to do is pay for an expansion of government benefits that would outstrip even G.W. on spending, I think it was 1 trillion dollars of new spending, while cutting our defense. Here’s a twist on your analogy.
I go to this diner, and order from the Middle East buffet, as you put it. I also get hit with a gratuity, which pisses me off and drops his approval rating down to 25%, from the current owner for Prescription Drug Benefits and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Then steps in a new owner, who decides to tack on a bunch of extra charges onto my bill to pay for the other patrons who don’t want to pay for their” Social and Welfare Programs Smorgasbord”, something I didn’t order nor do I want to eat, since it looks and smells like a crap sandwich.
And you wonder why I might not be happy?
