Mr. Obama’s tax-cutting promise
Posted by Raven on November 11th, 2008
Message to Barry: Your promises might cost you your job. (Yeah right! Who believes for one second that the BarryOne would keep his word vs. Keep his job?)
Mr. Obama won the White House promising tax cuts, but he will be governing with a Democratic Congress bursting with desire for a more activist government. As he faces this challenge, he might remember the fate of another man who made taxes the central part of his campaign: the first President Bush, whose most memorable campaign line — “Read my lips, no new taxes” — was as central to his victory as Mr. Obama’s promise to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. George H.W. Bush famously reneged on that promise. Voters rejected his bid for a second term.
Mr. Obama ran like Reagan. Will he be able to govern that way, too?
How’s he going to give us free health care? (And gas? And mortgages? /sarcasm)
The article linked shows us that perhaps the American people DON’T want all hope and change. Maybe, just maybe, they want tax cuts. Who would have thought? (not Barry)

Pre-election Obama and post-election Obama: two totally different people, just wait and see.

Hi Raven-
I’m kind of wondering what happened to all that patriotic stuff about “He’s our president even if you disagree with him and you need to get behind him.” Or “We are at war and we need to get behind our president”.
…seems a bit hypocritical. And if liberals should have shown respect, shouldn’t you consider taking the high road and show us how it’s done?
In the end, I think it shows what the whole “be patriotic and support your president even if you disagree: thing really was: an attempt to intimidate and coerce those who disagree with you into supporting the conservative ideology. It was never about really patriotism, was it? …or you would get behind our current president-elect and support him…even if you disagree.

Not to speak for Raven, but, I don’t recall her saying to get behind him.
Regardless, he is our president. You won’t hear me going moonbat about that, but, are we no longer allowed to disagree with policy, Terri? What happened to all the “dissent is patriotic” tripe? And, the basic fact is, Obama is breaking yet another promise, even though his “tax decrease” is actually a welfare check.
Personally, I am not going to get into the whole personal stuff that the Left engaged in vis a vis Bush 43, but, if I disagree with his policies, I will call him on it. I called Bush on some of his, as I did with McCain. Is that allowed now?
I might make fun of his ears, though, and his messianic status. But, I won’t call him a monkey, a chimp, wish for his death, take pleasure if he falls off his bike, call him ObAdolph or O’Stalin, go after his children. You know, all the stuff that the Left has done to Bush and his family.

Is there anything that I said that said you should not dissent? It was the right who said we shouldnot dissent and get behind the president.
My point was to be consistent, you should get behind your president-elect or be hypocritical. Those are your only two choices.
And it was offensive when we were told to shut up and be patriotic. I won’t do that to you, but I’m sure right now you have a pretty good idea about how that might feel.
I wouldn’t say it. It’s not my style. Nor is it the style of those I know on the left.
It’s not this guy’s style either….
” There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree.”
Please continue on. Dissent. However you see fit. We need your voice.
