Obama: “Change Comes from Me”

Posted by Raven on November 27th, 2008

Now that we have all given thanks this year for what we have, it’s time to get back to posting about those who wish to TAKE what we have.

Obama once again claims it’s all about HIM…since he’s not showing much in the way of real change in Washington by filling his administration with OLD hands which have weaved many current problems.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama essentially said Wednesday that he is the change, striving to assure Americans that he’ll shake up Washington despite filling his administration with old hands from the Clinton administration and the capital’s corridors of power.

“Understand where the vision for change comes from, first and foremost,” Obama said. “It comes from me. That’s my job, is to provide a vision in terms of where we are going, and to make sure, then, that my team is implementing.”

Oh fertheloveofgawd. Sprinkle more stardust on me.

As a presidential candidate, Obama’s central theme was that he’d change the way politics and the government work, and suggested that it’d take a fresh, outsider approach to do that. “Change doesn’t come from Washington ,” he said. “Change comes to Washington .”

Hmm…do we detect another major Obama Lie? Another broken promise? I SURE DO!

Yet he’s raised questions about how much he can deliver on that promise given the long list of beltway insiders he’s named, or signaled that he will name, to run his government.

Among them:

— Former Clinton White House adviser Rahm Emanuel as White House chief of staff.

— Former Clinton Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers as chairman of the National Economic Council .

— Former Clinton lawyer Greg Craig as White House counsel.

— Former Treasury Department official and current New York Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Timothy Geithner as Treasury secretary.

— Former Clinton Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder as attorney general.

These people represent CHANGE. As defined by Obama- who will the fresh face and voice so many voted for. Teh Messiah speaks…and his disciples will listen and act. We’ll see.

Shakespeare was a very astute observer of the human condition, and centuries before the Messiah ever showed up he wrote the perfect description in his “MacBeth” “Tomorrow” soliloquy: “…and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death… Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his brief hour… It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

With any luck it will be a brief hour, and Lord knows BHO’s tale is told by a conniving idiot.

Clinton has the power, Obama runs the pr machine.

That’s right, Rob. Obama is looking more to be the perfect PR front man. Though I’m hearing two different approaches. I read awhile back that asked his advisors what his position should be so that he could sell it (the PR front-man school), but in the press conference, he said that he was the source and it was up to his advisors to make it happen (the Xerxes/King Canute school).

Neither one is not too encouraging, but at least if he’s surrounding himself with Friends of Bill and listens to them, at least we know where that train’s headed and can try to redirect it.

It’s if Obama decides to play emperor that we’re in uncharted waters. I mean, when the ship of state doesn’t respond to his tiller commands, what then. Will he follow the “the whippings will continue until morale improves” leadership method (the Captain Bligh School of Management), or what?
