Big 3 Pony Show

So what do most people think of this potential auto industry bailout?

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A national poll suggests that six in 10 Americans oppose using taxpayer money to help the ailing major U.S. auto companies.

Sixty-one percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey out Wednesday are dead set against the federal government providing billions of dollars in assistance for the automakers, with 36 percent favoring such a bailout.

The poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday, also indicates that a majority of Americans, 53 percent, don’t think government assistance for the automakers will help the U.S. economy.

OUCH. I so agree with this! A bail out will not do a damn thing for the economy! And anyone who thinks it will, is stupid.

People I speak with about this are aghast that this is even being considered. Most folks want to know why our government is willing to do this for the most wasteful, union-abused, non competitive industry in the country…whose cars simply SUCK- American automobiles are not up to foreign vehicle standards. They don’t last. They’re expensive. AND the BIG 3 outsource more than half the parts manufacturing side of it all, to boot.

The UAW union is speaking up as well- alluding to possible concessions they are considering.

The U.A.W. president, Ron Gettelfinger, said the union would suspend its jobs bank, which requires carmakers to keep paying laid-off employees, and would consider changes to its labor contracts. The union has also agreed, Mr. Gettelfinger said, to delay the payments that the automakers must make to a new retiree health care fund called a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association, or VEBA.

Uh huh. Can we trust the UAW to follow through? Perhaps in this situation they would have no choice in the matter. Give up the perks or the job.

Much ado is being reported on this silly bailout. In the end I foresee the Big 3 getting what they want, and then some. I think Congress is putting on one of it’s infamous pony shows with all this testimony and executive-bashing bulloney. I seriously doubt there was ever a question as to whether this would happen in the first place.

What industry will be socialized saved next?

My question is, what can we as citizens of the free world do about this? How can our voices be heard? The auto industry says there are 3 million jobs at stake? I don’t believe it for a minute! Where do these strange and astronomical figures come from? 3 million jobs that the auto makers claim are at stake is about the size of Los Angeles…. think about it folks…. if the entire population of Los Angeles dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow, how much impact would that have on the remainder of the planet….? I love L.A., but come on! How does the old saying go in accounting…. do we make decisions based on SUNK costs? is it appropriate to continue to make allow the sam people to make more bad decisions simply because these people have made bad decisions in the past and it is going to be costly? What’s more costly, 1 bad decision, or 2 bad decisions? My question is, WHAT CAN WE AS CITIZENS OF THE FREE WORLD DO ABOUT THIS! I’M READY TO GO CAMP OUT AND BURN BONFIRES ON THESE CEO’S LAWNS!

10 out of 10 people disagreed with the Wall Street bailout of 750 billion that turned into 7.3 trillion of taxpayer dollars given away, we all know our government will give the big three 35 billion that will turn in to 100 billion even after all the playhouse 90 they’re doing opposing it in Washington.
The only solution to get the American economy back on track lower unemployment, bring back jobs to this country and save us from a depression and get us out of debt, is STOP all the imports from CHINA, MEXICO, and any other country that is shipping goods here without paying taxes to get it here (Tariffs) if we don.t start here and now it will fail, industry needs to come back to the US by stopping foreigners from controlling what’s going on in our government. If you really want to change anything in government go to: http://www.house.gov and find your local rep and email him, or go to: http://www.congress.org and look up and email your local rep, get friends and relatives to do the same.
If you are having trouble getting them you can email ME, sailingwindward@hotmailcom and I will help you voice your opinion and/or comments to your local Washington representative.

The major democrap politicians in the Michigan and surrounding states have taken millions in Union contributions. The democraps owe it to the unions to keep them working even if it is operating in a deficit.

It is not about the Companies, it is about the symbiant unions

The auto industry has been making it’s own trouble for yrs. Poor management, fiscal irresponsibility, no vision- all created the current problems. The Union IS a HUGE factor in this. The wages and benefits are awesome! Who the hell wouldn’t like to be paid 95% of their salary after being laid off, by the company and not Unemployment?? …and so on.

The government, Democrats, LOVE this problem because it means more control over free enterprise. The government will take over the industry and ruin it even more. Get ready to buy foreign vehicles from now on…American made cars and trucks will suck even more than they do now.

I say if the government takes it all over, we all deserve a FREE car.
