WTF? Don’t our Congress-Critters have better things to do?

I mean, what the hell? Is it just me or did I Founding Fathers ever think, in their wildest dreams, that members of Congress would attempt to use their power to force the NCAA and College Football into a playoff system…(note: ofcourse the NCAA and College Football didn’t exist back in the 1780s, but I think you get my point)
WASHINGTON (AP) – Taking aim at a BCS system he said “consistently misfires,” a member of Congress planned to introduce legislation Wednesday that would force college football to adopt a playoff to determine the national champion.
Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, didn’t specify what sort of playoff he wants — only that the BCS should go.
“In some years the sport’s national championship winner was left unsettled, and at least one school was left out of the many millions of dollars in revenue that accompany the title,” Barton said in a statement released ahead of the bill’s introduction. “Despite repeated efforts to improve the system, the controversy rages on.”
He said the bill — being co-sponsored by Reps. Bobby Rush, an Illinois Democrat, and Michael McCaul, a Texas Republican — “will prohibit the marketing, promotion, and advertising of a postseason game as a ‘national championship’ football game, unless it is the result of a playoff system. Violations of the prohibition will be treated as violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act as an unfair or deceptive act or practice.
But, hey, atleast its bi-partisan. But this just pisses me off. Hell, I want a playoff system as well cuz the BCS sucks. But for these ass-clowns to think they have any business doing this, it just shows me how worthless Washington D.C. truly is. They need an enema in the worst way…

Knowing Congress, if they had the chance, they would screw up the championship even worse than anything the NCAA officials could do.

It all has to do with the arrogance of power. I drive for a living, and in several states the are signs at road work projects stating something along the lines of “It’s your nickel. Watch it work!”
Danged right it’s my nickel! What’re they doing with it to begin with?!?
And what do they mean, it’s my freakin’ NICKEL? If that’s all I paid in taxes I’d be happy as a clam. To me it’s just another way of the socialists telling me I’m not paying enough.
As far as the playoffs go, I have yet to see a guvmint program that could do better than private enterprise, and no matter how hard the ivory tower idiots try to screw it up, their product (the BCS) has to be better than any platypus the pus-brains in DC could ever come up with.
