and declare him KIA... again.
Capt. (pictured as Lieutenant) Micheal Scott Speicher, USN
I read his story in this book here, called “No One Left Behind“.
The most damning evidence comes more from the 1991 crash site of his F-18 in Iraq, where there was ample evidence that Speicher had ejected before the plane impacted, such as the canopy and ejection seat being removed from the aircraft pre-impact. Then there was the Iraqi evidence of a torn flight suit, that wasn’t faded as it would have been after several years in the blazing Iraqi sun. There were multiple screw ups, such as being issued a new rescue radio that wasn’t able to be secured in the survival vest properly, and probably would have been lost during ejection, so he would be unable to contact CSAR for recovery.
The book is full of details, though circumstantial, build a case that he probably survived and was captured. God only knows what he went through in Saddam’s prisons since he was declared, prematurely, dead by the DOD. Saddam didn’t have to account for him in any way, like he did other POWs. I shudder to think of the atrocities.
And the fact that the initials MSS were found scrawled in a prison searched by the U.S. following the fall of Iraq increases the possibility in my mind that we did leave him behind…
Captain Speicher, You Are Not Forgotten…

I have this book and have read it too…I don’t think it’s all circumstantial- I think there is a lot more to the story than we are being (allowed) to know. Call me a X Files freak, lol, but I really do believe there is MORE here than we may EVER KNOW.
And it’s our duty to not forget, to keep the unknown alive in our minds and hearts. I wish, really wish, there were MORE WE COULD DO on this.

I wonder if, in amidst the tons of files and records of Saddam’s, there wasn’t SOMETHING, or SOMEONE, who has spoken out about this. I agree, someone in our government knows something….
